Mud Gaurds

Has anyone installed the Ford molded mud gaurds on there 04/05's? I put them on my 04 SuperCrew Lariat. But there is at least a 1/16 of an inch gap between the mud guard and the truck. It looks bad and I'm sure that area will collect dirt. My 02 SuperCab that I had, it was tight up against the truck. Has anyone else have the same problem?

I went with a set of Husky Mud Guards and I am going to paint them to match the AZ BG two tone lower color on the truck. See the KR forum mud guard thread. I don't know if I will go with KR logo but will see.

04 mud guards

Yeah...I was disappointed with the look of them after they were installed on my truck. They just seemed too big an gaudy looking compared to the old style Ford guards. The old style blends nicely to the fender. These stick outside the wheel trim and are longer and wider. When you look at mine from the back, the guard is 1 to 2 inches wider than the back tire on the inside of the mud guard. Just doesn't look right. Oh well...I guess everything can't be perfect on our perfect trucks.
I love everything else about my truck though...can't argue that...

These might be a little too cheap looking for you, but they do a heck of a job. I drive dirt roads to work every day, and with the snow we've gotten this year so far, they are so worth it, and the mold right to the wheel well.

They are cheap too. 28bucks for all four. Definately worth it. Even if the ones you all like have a slight gap, it's much better then the big pits you'll have without them.

And they work.

Have a friend who makes them from recycled 2 liter bottles. His shop stinks like melted plastic, but he makes a fortune.

1969 Mach..... You bought those from Ford? They look like the ones at AutoZone.

I want some, but I dont want to pay a fourtune. The front tires shoot mud, water, dirt, and just al road debris all over my nerf bars

I noticed the "gap" the first time I installed it, and I was PI$$ED! After being in deep mud, deep water, and numberous miles in the rain, I have to say that they are perfect. No splashing onto the bed panels. That is with the stock 255 Generals (P.O.S.'s). I am upgrading tires in the near future and will be able to comment further, but I love them...for now.

~Side Note~
My truck does not have the fender moldings

although not a real tight fit. they do a good job and the fronts
do look better then the rear. the rears could be shorter i
would still go with the factory

Probably are the same.

Is 28 bucks is too much to spend on 4 mud flaps? I think not.

I altered the trim pieces by removing them and cutting off the section that the mudgaurds place over (so that the mudgaurd and trim piece are flush), and they fit perfectly.
