Yeah i like the amps hidden behind the seat.I didnt have the audiophile. Didnt order it when i ordered the truck cuz i knew i would change it. A friend of mine has the audiophile and it sounds great for a factory installed system but not even close to what is available aftermarket.

Hey Xtreme, looks great! I bet it really sounds good too. I'm a huge fan of JL, but I can't really fit my 12W6v2 under the seat.

Did you install your own amps?

I want to talk to you or somebody who has because I am getting ready to install my system, but I am a true amateur installer. I need all the help I can get.

Feel free to email me: jdavis@acipco.com

For those that have a bench.... Hide the amp under the center cushion. There is a perfect spot to put an amp. Mine fit perfect.

Hate to bring up an old thread, but I just got all of my audio mods done.

I've only had the truck about 3 weeks and I got an early Christmas present...all of the mods on my truck.

I was leary about the stealthbox, but I am glad I got it. I LOVE IT! The sound is awesome.

My old setup was a JL 12W6v2 in a ported box and this isn't as loud, but I think it's as close as I'm going to get given the limited amount of space.

Xtreme,
I have it too. I have since it was available. I drive a similar setup with BA Pro components in all 4 doors driven by a Soundstream Van Gogh 5 Channel. I love this setup. My only problem is that my front driver speaker is cutting in and out. When I crank it, it comes on and stays on. When I turn it down, it cuts out. Any ideas?

To the others looking at this, I too recommend it. It puts out as much bass as you need in this cab regardless of what you listen to. JL makes the boxes to where they are ported and tuned perfectly for the woofer. Drive it with power and it's clean. Just be careful about allowing mid-bass to come through. I tuned it all out and it sounds much better to me. Any good amp will let you tune that out. To each his own though.

Good luck all.

Dave

I agree! I had my stealthbox installed in my 05 SCab in early Nov. At first I was going to keep the Upgrade HU and door speakers, then right before thanksgiving, said heck with it and had the doors upgraded to JL 570 CXi. All I can say is WOW! I listen to country music alot with some Rock and Alternative. Its pretty darn good. Im not a youngster anymore either. One thing I like about it, is paying back those kids that are playing their crap way too loud at the stop lites. I just proudly roll my windows down now, and crank it her up.... U ought to see those kids eyes....They turn their music down and say man...u got 2 12' in there...when I tell them just 1 10' they are in shock.
I didnt do the amps behind the seat, well the installer didnt want too either. I lost my jack space for the mounting of the amps. Currently building a amp cover to make it look completely stealth to match the stealthbox. I should have it done finally this wkend if anybody is interested in seeing how it turned out.

For all of you that are running your amps where the Jack used to be, I created an amp cover to match the JL stealthbox. Came out pretty clean.

Hey Opie...that looks GREAT!

Any info on what materials you used?

I am using that area for storage right now. My amp is installed behind the back seat, but I wouldn't mind doing something like that in the future.

U know me and my audio installer were thinking about getting a patent on it..... How much u willing to pay me to create one? My friend lost a bet with me saying I couldnt create it, you see that plastic bag in the picture? The bet was a bottle of Crown Royal Reserve. Im gonna be drinking good this New Years!!!!!!
I tell ya what, let me get my pictures in order and I will write a write-up on how to do it. Really only materials you will need is some 3/4 MDF, 3/32 veneer wood, a portable skill saw, some rough sandpaper, glue, and a nailgun. I had my audio installer put the carpet on. Most custom upholstry shops will have the matching F150 carpet.
