NAPA Brake Pads

NAPA finally has front pads for our trucks.
The problem is that they are missing the 3mm(roughly)holes in the sides for the V springs.
I was wondering if the Porterfields came with the holes or if anyone has changed out to the NAPA pads and had the same problem.I stopped by 2 different stores(memphis area) and all their pads were missing the holes.
I thought my brake dust problem had finally ended. So much for thinking.

rockauto.com has some Akebono Proact pads for the front and rear. Very high quality ceramic pads. Cost about 130 bucks once the shipping is added on. I have them on my truck...Kevin

After having washed my truck for the first time last night in the rain, I have a feeling that ceramic pads are in my immediate future.

Geesh... talk about dust!

It has been my experience that the ceramics don't last as long as the semi-metalics. You will get more of a chance for squeal from the SM than the ceramics, also more dust, but I think a good quality SM pad will provide better braking than the ceramics. I had both on my 99 sc when I had it.

With the kleen wheels, those stock pads could be butcherin' your rotors up and you'd never know it...Kevin

Honestly, I'd rather change pads and rotors every 20-25,000 miles than clean my wheels every 2-3 days.

Porterfields fit nicely. Just did my fronts. Give them a call, they are very helpful. Front pads - AP1011 R4-S. $79.00 + Shipping when you tell them you heard it here. Best thing is......NO MORE &$%#* brake dust....woooohooo!!

Yeah, I have but, I'm still concerned about heat and such. Plus, I'm not sure I like the look of them considering that you can see through the wheels pretty readily...

I think I'll just keep bitching and cleaning.

plus they make those expensive aluminum rims look like cheap wheel covers (not unlike a Neon or Corolla)
