On the Gold alarm, if the alarm is armed, and I manually unlock the door, and open it, the alarm does not go off. Is this normal? It doesn't sounds like it should be.

There must be a similar sensor to detect the chip in your key when you unlock the door as there is in your dash. Not sure though

if you arm the alarm... and use your key to open the door, the alarm should go off.
