Window Tinting

About what did you guys with tinted windows pay to have it done?

I'm specifically interested in the cost for a Super Cab. All 4 windows, rear slider, and 4" down on the windshield.

20% matches the factory tint. Don't pay over $80. Ensure they warrenty the work for the life of the vehicle. That's about it. I got mine done at a place downriver. Several vehicles done, top notch work.

They had a piece on the news a while back where the police were giving out tickets for any tinted window in NY even factory tint. They said NJ allows 0%.This is on the rear and back seat, not the front seat or windshield.NJ will do anything for a buck.

Ds got all the info you need. Not to mention there is a lot more if you search a little too. 20% looks best and unless you know the cops are really strict in your area, you should be fine. Here in DC and NoVa I havent had a problem yet, and I had mine tinted only a week after purchase.

would that be $80 for just the front driver and passenger windows, or all windows & a 4" strip on the windshield?

In my area they get $145 for a whole truck, and $10 for a strip on the front. I think D was thinking that your back windows were already done.

Yeah, if you need the ALL done you'll obviously pay more. Prolly right around what Monkey paid. I wouldn't go over $175 for the whole truck. Again, lifetime warrenty!!!

I have heard 20% and 17%, but they are for sure darker than 30%. My backs were already done from the factory and the woman that does mine put 20% on the front and it looks perfect. On my '00 Scab I had before, I had 17% on it and it matched perfect. Im not sure you can tell 3% difference but either would look great.

I got mine tinted 5% all the way around... even on top of the factory tint in the back. I absolutely love it. I cost me $145 with lifetime warranty (of course it was verbal... they didn't want a receipt for that floating around). Anyway, I'm real glad I've got the reverse sensing system, cuz it is hard-to-see at night!! I wouldn't have it any other way though. Check out my gallery.

EDIT: Uh... I forgot, I don't have any good pics posted from after the windows were tinted... I'll try to add them this weekend.
Sorry So Stupid.

Back in the day it was. Most Ford tints are all 20% now. As for the 17/20 debate.. that depends who's film your using.

Man rock, that KR would be hella-hella-cool with the fronts done!!

RP-

It has been argued that the 20% is an exact match. I think it is. However, the windshield lets in so much light that it makes it look like the front look lighter.

If you can find 15%, I'd go with it. Someone around here has 15%. My 20% looks good, but I may be headed back for another 20% on top of everything.

I guess it just depends on if you are trying to make it look 'good', or 'hella-cool'!
