I had a few hours yesterday morning, so I took my truck in to have the dealer look at the thump-clunk from a stop issue.

I was expecting to get the slip-yoke greased, and I hadn't even mentioned the vibe issue.

After about an hour, the desk guy tells me the truck's all set for now...but that they ordered a new driveshaft.

I'll take it, and see what happens. After reading some of the horror stories on this site, I'm just glad to have a dealer do something without me having to fight it.

I think I'll go test drive some 2005s for fun while they're swapping it out.

 

That sounds a little sketchy. I had the same issue, they changed
the pinion thingy and the clutch pak thingies.. The truck now
performs flawlessly for me.. No driveshaft change..
I hope they get it right for you though.

 

Where do you get your service done? If they already helped you, I might be better off visiting them, since they are familiar.
