nibble vs unbalanced tires

I have a bad problem with steering wheel shimmy at 60+mph. I have had this problem to some degree since the truck was new and have balanced the General tires 4 times to no avail. Are these cheap tires that are out of balance or is this another problem that Ford has or is getting a fix for?

CHEAP tires... I have the same tires and HAD the nibble BUT got
them roadforce balanced and NO problems since.. rides like it's
in the clouds ...... Though i am swapping out of them after this first winter season passes, UNLESS they stink up the joint in the snow and then it'll be C-YA earlier then planned...

I am considering getting new wheels and tires in part because of this problem but I didn't want to spend 2$ and wind up with the same prob.

My First Set of Generals were replaced at 6,000 Miles as they Failed Roadforce Balancing

Now with 11,000 Miles they need to be Balanced again. There decent Tires Traction wise they just WON'T stay Balaced

I had the general's on my truck when I first got it. Within 200 miles had them taken off and the bfg's put on it has a totally different ride (better)

I had a vibration from the get go, the first time had a road force and one tire was bad and moved on the wheel, the next time one tire was bad and replace with a good tire and they told me all tires are good. Then I took it back and there saying 3 tires are bad and had to order them. Go figure. I got the factory BFG w/ 18's

A properly calibrated Hunter GSP9700 or better. Most Ford dealers have one, some speciality tire shops, like ones that deal in big aftermarket wheels and low profile tires might. It only takes something like 20 grams imbalance to cause a vibration in later model Fords, or so I've been told.

My truck has a steering wheel shimmy with the factory 18" BFGs, but only when it's cold. After about 5 miles or so down the road when everything's warmed it, it's good to go.

I agree, the Hunter machine is great. If you go to their website, they have a locater where you can find a shop in your area with one. I just can't remember their website.

I have the same steering wheel shimmy with the Goodyears (18 inch rim). It just makes me wonder if it is the tires or something else. I want to get a set of michelins but I don't really want to spend $1,000 for new tires when these tires should last at least 30K miles.

I have had many trucks and cars and never had any good luck with Generals...Once I had a bent front rim that caused me problems...That's my opinion...would not buy a rig with them on it...

These Trucks are Extremely Sensitive to vibration from the Tires

1] Tires MUST be Roadforced Balanced

2] Tires Need to be Top Line NOT Basic IE: General/Goodyears
