No more cutting harnesses with factory Radio and AMP!!!
okay... the factory stereo wiring harness has a male plug that plugs directly to the receiver (female) plug in the back of the stereo... well. if you buy a harness adapter for a new stereo.... you get this plug with a bunch of wires that you connect to the harness that comes with the new stereo.... if your adding an amp, or non factory speaker wire, you can make your connections between the harness adapter, and stereo plug.... This gives you the ability to not cut your factory wiring when installing a new stereo...
Well.. if you want to add an amplifier without changing the stereo.. you would usually need to cut the factory harness, because you need to tap in the speaker wires, to get the individual signals to the amp, from the stereo..... with a reverse harness adapter, you can make a harness extension, because you will have two seperate pigtails... that connect to the harness, and the back of the stereo... allowing you to splice into the extension, instead of the main harness.... pretty simple.. and keeps me from damaging my new trucks wiring....
Hopefully that explains...
