Improving gas mileage on 4.6

Well i know there is plenty of talk about this, but what are the best bang for the buck mods on fuel economy. This being my first v8 with 315/70/17s is starting to get to my wallet. Any help ;( intake, exhaust) on the best would be appreciated! thanks

ill give u the same answer i got when i asked this exact question. Right foot mod. Any mods your gonna do outweigh the return your gonna get. Plus theres the whole add more performance wanna use it. Just try to drive conservative (granny) and youll be good or just get over it like i had to and pay for the 13mpg. Ur hurtin with those larger tires as well but im sure u know that. Dunno if ull be happy spending 1k on mods to maybe pick up a mpg at the pump.

With the 4.6 you have at the most 3.55 gears and thosse alone pushing the tires you have will kill your gas mielage. Time to think about a tuner and a gear swap.

I was thinking about those size and now I'm just going to go with a 32-33" and a leveling kit, gears and a tuner. I should still be able to get decent mileage for a truck still. Also with mods comes a heavier right foot. Granny it and see whta it does for you.

I think if you can get the gear and tire selection just right you should be at the same original gear ratio from the factory and only lose a little bit on the MPG.

Good luck.

You might ask Robert045.4 where he had his done as he's also in Orlando. It seems as though he just had his done. If it's a 4x4 you are looking at 1200.00 or less. 4x2 then 500.00 or less.

The last set of gears I had done were in my Mustang and they were installed for $175.00 but I already had the gears.

Good luck.
