I am in the same boat. I picked up my truck for the shop last night. I have been waiting in the rotors going in two week now. The SA told me he did not know when they would be in but I would be one of the first in line. He told me to pick-up my truck last night. I have had a loaner this whole time. Driving a little compact for a week shows how much you miss your truck even with the little problems.
I live in Houston, Texas.... Has any one in Texas received any new rotors yet?

New Rotors Installed

Well today the dealer installed the "new" rotors. The new part # is 5L3Z*1102*AA. Of course it will be a few weeks before I know if they are any better. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

FYI - I believe the part # for the "old" rotors was 4L3Z*1102*AA. Only the 1st digit changed.

Well, my dealer finally got the 'new' rotors in and I dropped off my truck. Once the new rotors are installed and I drive on them for a few thousand miles, I'll give a report.

Please let us know how your new rotors are. The dealer has replaced mine twice and turned them once, I went by there today because my steering wheel feels like its gonna fly off when I brake at higher speeds again and one of the guys told me to bring it back tomorrow because the manager needed to be there, he was gone today. This will be the fourth trip for me for this issue and Ive really bout had it, 30,000 dollar truck and they cant get this thing right.

My Service Manager called me today 11/23. He said the new rotors are in and wanted to schedule the service. It will take few days/miles to see how they work.
Keep every posted.

New rotors are now on my truck (2004 FX4 SCrew).

The part number is: 5L3Z 1125 AA

Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Also, they replaced the front pads (2nd time now) and replaced the rear pads and machined the rear rotors (there were grooves in them).

My brakes are fading bad and the brake dust is not letting up either. I have 23,000 k on my SC 4X4. I have the Lariat if that makes any difference? Should I complain about the fading and the brake dust? is this normal?

The brake dust is normal (from what I hear). The fading is not something that I have heard as much about...plus, that is more of a safety issue. I would definitely get it checked out.

Power Slot is currently shipping rotors for the 4X4's (8780PSR,PSL) and will be done with the 4X2's shortly. You'll find that most of these OEM's use a reasonably soft pad to increase brake efficiency and hence the "dust" issue. The harder the pad, the longer it lasts, the less dust you have but the longer it takes to stop. Hawk makes a low dust pad for the truck with great stopping power (HB455P785). Biggest issue today is increase in wheel size is greatly reducing stopping power, too much rotating mass to stop. If you've changed your wheels (bigger) you can count on brake issues much faster than normal.

Regardless of soft pads, bigger wheels, etc... Bottom line is that Ford produced inferrior rotors for 2004 F150. There is absolutely no excuse for them to warp every 1200 miles. Alas, hopefully the "new" rotors are better.

Just got the call today myself that my new rotors are in. I will have them installed on Friday. Hopefully these are better than the ones that came on the truck. They were warped in less than 3,000 miles. I will post another reply once I have driven them for a bit.

Well, took my truck in today and told them this is the fourth time Ive been here with rotor problems. So after a few hours they call me and tell me they machined them, that ford told them that if they had already replaced them before then just machine them today. So I was like what if it doesnt fix it this time, which Im sure it wont, what do I do? So the guy told me if this doesnt work then a Ford engineer would have to come and check it out and make the call. He also said they have had this problem alot but replaceing new rotors has solved it, but not in my case. So with all that being said do you guys have any suggestions on what steps I need to take after this, if this doesnt fix the problem? This will be the fifth time for them trying to get it rigth. Or have any of you guys delt with ford on a matter like this and what they might do. Sorry for the long post, thanks guys this is one helpful web site.
