Question Rear Rotors (04 F-150 SCab)

I got to cleaning my rear wheels today, and I noticed a significant (read: visible) "gouge" of sorts on my rear brake rotors. Nothing is on the pad so far as I can tell, so what could this be? Anyone else see this on their F-150?

I've got just over 1500 miles on the truck, and I KNOW that this isn't normal "wear and tear" for any vehicle. Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Hi BigTRQ,
I had the very same problem as a few of the other people that frequent this site. Don't know if it's cheap pads or rotors or both, but I replaced my pads the other day with Akebono Proacts. So far, so good. I've put about 700 miles on them, and no new scars on the rotors. It's a little expensive(about $130 shipped), but I bought my truck at a dealership about a hundred miles away and I trust the dealer here very little. Got the pads from rockauto.com...Kevin

Just about everybody here... Just wait till the dust on the front wheels starts laying on thick...

My dealer is replacing all my rotors. They said some people were experiencing problems with the old ones, new rotors are out... It took about a week for the new rotors to get here, now I just have to set aside some time to take my truck in and have them put on.

Mine got warped really bad front and back. 16k miles. Already had them replaced at 8k and remachined at 4k.

Just do a little search on this subject and you will be swamped with threads......just look into my photo gallery and see the damage. It is much worse now that i have 7200 miles on the truck

Was your dealer willing to do the rotor swap? Or was it the final step in trying to resolve the problem?

My rear rotors have some deep grooves in them as well. Mine are from small rocks getting lodged in there, had to remove a couple due to unbearable squeeling! Brakes still work fine so I am not at all concerned.
