Paint

I had some place on my FX4 where there was white overspray on my gray. I had the dealer fix it. When I go it back today it appears on one of the places they got gray overspray on the white so they took touch up paint to fix it. I did not see it until I got home. What do yall think would you have them sand it off and spray or just leave it like it is, its a very small area but I don't like having touch up paint on there. If I have them fix it can they just spray that little spot or will they have to do the whole side of the cab?

I would leave it alone but I would negotiate a bug deflector or bed mat out of the deal. My brother has a body shop that does the paintwork for the local Ford dealer and thepainting is expensive and a pain. If he paints the small spor, the clearcoat has to be spread over a large area.

A good, clear picture would work wonders towards giving you advice.

I agree with blitz...

Overspray is generally very easy to deal with as it doesn't have much area for it (as a spray particle) to bond to your other paint. Further, if it's on the exterior of the clearcoat, it has a tendency not to bond much at all...

First question... is it on the outter portion of the clear? Can you pick it off with a fingernail?

Second question... have you heard of detailing clay? Familar with it's uses?

Third statement... keep the sanding option in your very last farthest back pocket. You really shouldn't need it. Sanding creates other problems that you have to deal with...

Sorry the only digital cam I have is on my cell phone, and it wouldn't be clear. Its on the passenger side at the very end of the cab, where the gray and white meet (you proably already figured that) It's about 1/2" tall and 1.5" long. If you get back about 4 feet you can't see it. Its just the fact I have touch up paint on a brand new truck. I take very good care of my truck and lose sleep at night over dents and scratches. But I don't want to create any more problems. It would really be nice if things could just be done right the first time. I had my windows tinted 2 times to get them right. I had keyless start put on, I had to go in 2 times to get that right. thanks for the advice

rock you said something about the clay when I first noticed my problem. I looked for it the other day at wal-mart and did not see any. If I find some do you think it will take off the touch up paint?
