I'm about to purchase a 20g ipod, I'm wanting to know if any of you know of some kit that will let me play it through my truck speakers, and some kinda mounting system that looks clean. I have an 04 FX4 with the console shifter.

I have the Alpine cda-9820xm head unit and the kca-420i ipod interface in my truck. Now all I have to do is plug my ipod into a cable in the glovebox, close it and control it with the HU. The HU has an on board xm receiver and an amp also.

BTW the Sirius module is almost ready to go to. I'll be able to add that with just a cable.

 

there is a holder/charger/wireless fm modulator made by DLP that you can buy at best buy that plugs into the cigar lighter in the middle of the dash, i think it looks pretty good and the sound quality is also suprisingly good.

 

I have pretty much the same setup as CodeRed. I have an Alpine CDA-9831 as the head unit and the Alpine KCA-420i (iPod control interface). I ran the wiring for the iPod connection to below the drivers seat to keep the iPod out of the way and harder to find incase anyone ever breaks into my truck. I bought a black padded case for it from Compusa so it doesn't knock around under the seat as I'm driving.

The Alpine iPod interface is awesome! It allows me to control all of the functions of the iPod. It charges the iPod (so, I never have to take the iPod out of the truck unless I'm updating songs). It keeps the iPod hidden and out of the way. It frees up my cigarette lighter (as from what I understand, most iPod/car stereo connections need to use). So, instead I use the cigarette lighter for my cell phone. It also is hard wired directly into the head unit. So since it's not transmitting over FM, I get no distortion and instead get CD quality sound.

So, I was sold on it. Hope that helps.

no need to hard wire, just get an iTrip, it plugs into the top, set it near the radio, and it picks up the frequency. Its awesome and onyl cost about $30.

I borrowed the itrip and the icarplay from my friend and I thought the sound quality between the both to be the roughly the same. Since the itrip is considerably cheaper, I would buy the itrip. I then bought the Belkin II from wal mart two weeks ago and I must say it’s slightly better than the itrip. I’m using the Belkin II currently in my truck. The sound quality from all three isn’t even close to that of a CD since their FM transmitters, but unless you want to shell out some cash for a new head unit, the Belkin II is the best thing out there right now in my opinion. I saw a thread a few months ago about the Neo (www.mp3yourcar.com) on this forum and read an article on CNET about it last week, but I have yet to read about someone connecting it to their 04-05 F-150. On the site, it says the Neo is compatible with the 04 F-150’s, but for the price of $189, I’m going to wait until I hear some positive stories about it before I even think about buying it. The diagram on the site shows that all you have to do is plug it in to the CD changer port on the back of the radio. Has anyone used the Neo on their truck? Aftermarket aux input adapter, where art thou?

I plug my MP3 player into an iRock FM400 (or 400FM) modulator. Tune my radio to one of the four frequencies that it can be set to, and it sounds great.
