Need to replace driver side mirror..
Anybody have any experience replacing one? Mine got hit this morning on the way to work. A fellow Ford driver hit it. Got a price quote for a new one, but I'd like to do the labor myself.
They arent that hard to do, somewhere there is a step by step guide, I just cant find it right now! But if you are interested in great prices on all the mirror parts, check here

Do a search for removing the door panel. It is not very difficult to remove the panel and there are 3 nuts that hold the mirror on. You will save some bucks by doing it yourself. I removed the door panel on my 04 XL in an attempt to install power door locks and windows one weekend. Just remember when you have all the screws loose on the panel, LIFT STRAIGHT UP! If not, you might break some of the tabs.
Ok,,,, here we go..
First you will need to take off the speaker grill,, start at the top where the little gap the size of a small flat head screw driver would fit,, pop it out. Remove all 4 bolts and detach speaker from cable,,, the two plastic bolt retainers on the botom where speaker was mounted will need to be pulled out,, use a pair of plyers and pull hard,,, just inside of the cup where the inside door handle is there is a nother small flat head size srewdriver slot at the top above the hadle,, pull it down from the top and pull out,, comes off real easy. Remove the two bolts that you now see behind it. Then you will need to remove the window and door lock bezel,,, where the bezel is around the botom sides you can see it has a steady crack all the way around,, get the tips of your fingers under it and pull up on the side towards you and it will pop off,,, remove electric conectors from switch housing,,, leave wires hanging,,, behind there is a bolt towards the front of the inside of where the bezel was ,, remove this bolt.... then go all the way down to bottom of door panel,,, there are two bolts,, remove these bolts... now you will be able to pull up on the door panel and it will come right off,,, pull up and back out,,, now ,, there is a cable going to the inside door handle,, follow the cable to the handle and there is a small cylinder shaped tip at the end of the cable , pull the cable a little slack and pull the cylinder out of the notch that its in and detach cable from its holder,, just pull straight outward and it will pop out,, now you can set the door panel down some where safe. take all the nuts holding the mirror off and you may have to use a small hamer to punch the bolts back through the other side to pull the mirror off,,, than replace with new mirror,, then follow in reverse order......
Good luck,
Bubba
