Width of rims needed to fit tire?

I am buying rims that are 17x8s. The tire Im putting on is a BFG AT 315/70/R17. On the BFG website, it states the available range for the tire is a rim width from 8.5 to 10". Is it possible to put these tires on that rim? If so, will it look stupid or will the tire be prone to popping off? Thanks in advance, Ruben

I know several people here and at FTW are running those tires on stock 17x7.5 inch wheels without any problems or strange wear. You should be fine.
