***Update 10/27 FIXED***

Okay on with the saga. I took it in this morning and the truck would hardly click for them. I felt like the truck was taunting me. Anyway after about 30 mintues with all of us messing with it we were able to get it to click just a little bit. The consensus was that was ineed the lower steering shaft. They then pulled a new F-150 off the lot and took the steering shaft out of it. They swapped them out and (so far) there is no more clicking at all. It is beautiful to drive and hear NOTHING!

The service manager also came out to make sure the leather was clean and I was happy. Overall I think they've gone out of their way to resolve this issue. I'll update again in a few days to let you know if the clicking returns at all. Best of luck to you all, and I hope my posts help.

Thanks for the saga update... we all hope your "click" is truely gone for good.

Mine is going in for a new clock spring..... the first attempt was to '"lube" the steering.........?????????

What is the name of the dealership and the Service Manager who diagnosed the problem? If the clock spring replacement doesn't work, Id like to have the folks here call your dealer. They will usually listen to another daeler. If it has to go in a third time and I tell them "... a guy on the F150 line said...", they usually blow off those kind of suggestions.

Thanks again!!

D, the first thing that they did was replace my clock spring and it didn't help at all. If I were you I'd just print out this thread and take it to them. Then again your clicking may be something completely different on your truck.

My dealer was Kendall Ford in Eugene Oregon.

*edit* here's the link if you want it.

Well, I just got mine back for the same thing and to no avail it still does it. I have had the lower shaft replaced and it seemed better for awhile but then it came back, and its back to what it used to be. Guess it will be back to the drawing board for now. Any ideas?

Man that sucks. How long did it take before it came back? And did it stop completely after the shaft was replaced?

Ok, I tried the tape thing and actually I think it is almost gone, st least enough I probably would never have noticed it if it had not been a problem before. I did not know what a go cart clutch looked like so I just gave it a shot. I taped just below the joint in the shaft where there seemed to be a few rubber spacers in there, about 5 inches above the firewall. Will have to give it a few days to see if it is actually gone but so far looks good.

It was good for awhile and now returned. Having them look at it again next time I am in for service.
