This is poop!

So I was driving on the freeway on SUNDAY at about 70 mph. All of a sudden my truck downshifted, slowing down to about 60, and the check engine soon light came on. Seconds later I hear a beep and the computer screen shows "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE" on it. I ended up pulling off the freeway and stopped the truck. I started it back up and all was well. Five minutes later the same thing happens. I decided to stop by the Ford dealership and ask a technician what was going on. He told me that this was the first time he has heard something like this happen to an '04. He then told me to schedule an appointment and I did.

MONDAY morning my parents drop my truck off at the dealership. Expected time and date to finish: MONDAY at 6 pm. We get a call around 6 pm.

"Your truck has something wrong with it and we need to keep it for a couple more days."
"When do you guys think it will be done?"
"I would say either Wednesday the soonest and Thursday the latest."

WEDNESDAY evening. We get another phone call.

"Seems like we need to order a part for your truck."
"Ok so will the truck be ready tomorrow?"
"Yes tomorrow for sure."

THURSDAY morning. Another phone call.

"We ordered the wrong part for your truck and we will need to keep it for another day..."

Is there anyone else that would be as pissed off as I am right now? By the way, who knows maybe they order the wrong part again and I have to wait until Monday. Thoughts?

First thing that comes to mind, Thats a ROTTEN dealership and you need to find a different one to take your truck too, i cant stress enough to people that the dealership REALLY does make a difference, If they cant even order the correct part then youve got a bunch of monkeys with sticks working on your truck right now.

It might sound like a dumb question. But if I take my truck to a different dealership things like warranty will still be in effect right? I am not too familiar with all that stuff.

Any Ford Dealer will honor the Ford warranty...Sounds like they don't know what's wrong and used the "ordered the wrong part" exuse...Why not go in and "see " your truck and speak to the guy that's working on it now...If they stop you doing that then you want to know what's going on...Did they give you a rig to drive all this time ???

Oh and their are no dumb questions when it comes to your new truck !!!!

You failed to mention if they did anything else to accomodate you. Did they hook you up with a loaner? At least they called when they said they would.

Have you had service from this dealer before? During your conversation with the dealer did you ask them what was wrong or why it is taking so long to diagnose? I find the harder you press the better the service is. Quiet folks always get trampled.

Correct and agreed. However, probably incorrect to title the thread in such a manner... it has been edited.

Always tell them its your only vehicle and you need a loaner and if they dont have one, tell them you will take a used car home then.

A little update on what happened. FRIDAY is here and we get a call. Truck ready. Parents went down to the dealership and picked it up. I was looking forward to reading the statement:

JOB 1: Tune/Driveability-Perforprm wds. run and retrieve codes p1230 and p2106. ABS sensor and forced safe mode. Performed pin point test found open circuit in speed sensor. Tech replaced vss speed sensor and replaced gas pedal assembly. recheck ops-passed.

JOB 2: Brakes-Inspected and found rotors warped due to caliper hang up. tech replaced front brake pads, machined front rotors and replaced both caliper assembly.

JOB 3: Oil and filter change.

Now my question is this. Those of you who have had the steering wheel shimmy: Did the service center just resurface the rotors? Meaning that the shimmy is just going to come back in a matter of time? I remember reading that people who were having trouble had them fixed, then the shimmy came back.

Thanks ahead of time.
