Training Seminar for Vibration Issue

Just heared from a service manager at the local Ford Dealer that Ford is having a special training seminar via satalite on 10/21 for the vibration issue. He does not know if it will have any definate fixes though. He also said the problem seems to be prone to the FX4 models.

Ask that local Ford dealer if Ford believes the problem lies in the rack and pinion.

I can hear it now....."Just tell the customers that the vibration is within specification and tolerance". Seems like most of the FSE's have already been trained on this issue.

Man, this whole vibe issue has me spooked now. I just bought my XLT Supercab two weeks ago and now I cringe everytime I feel a bump or shudder going down the road. I really cannot tell when I feel a little vibration if that is just normal road stuff or if it means i have the vibe problem beginning to show up. I almost wish I had not found this site as it is making me second guess my decision!

Don't get me wrong, I love my new truck but I am getting a bit nervous over this issue. I traded in my 03 Sport Trac due to quality issues and hoped that the new F-150 would not be plaqued with the same kind of issues.

PS - my truck in an XLT Supercab with the 5.4 liter engine and 3:73 limited slip rear end. Built in Norfolk in March of 04. Beautiful Toredor Red with chrome nerf bars.

The FX4 models may be prone to the vibration but my XLT Screw is enjoying it as well.

Buck,

If you can't tell you are fine. Don't worry and enjoy your truck.

tjaas,

Was the steering rack they replaced any different that the one you had? Do they know why the new rack fixed the problem, or what was wrong with the original rack? Thanks.

the new rack had updated gears or something like that. It was part of the TSB for steering nibble, try a search for past post

The TSB that it's referring to is for trucks built prior to 8/03.

it spooked the hell out of me after I ordered mine, so much so I almost cancelled my order but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did, I'm vibe free (knock on wood) at 3800 miles. The DSB seesm to be working for those with the vibe problems so rest easy that at the least you should be able to get a buyback if you end up with a bad one. mine was built april 04, Kansas city but there have been no solid correlations between specs, build dates/ locations and the vibe.
