K&N filter

Hi Guys, I am contemplating getting a K&N drop in air filter for my 5.4 04 screw. Do they increase gas mileage and power or is that a marketing "ploy." Can I anticipate my check engine light coming on? And on another note, I can not get into the Troyer Perf. website. It will not load. DOes anyone have an e-email address for them? Thanks for your help oncce again.

I put a K&N dropin into my 4.6L, I didn't really notice any difference in power or gas mileage. I did notice that it sounds a bit better at WOT, little bit throatier. Mostly changed it out to save from buying a ton of paper elements over the trucks life ( Dusty construction sites and weekends offroading )

I could get into their website just fine about 1 second ago..

But to answer your question on the gas mileage. I noticed a difference about 1 mpg only because I had dual exhaust and not enogh intake. With the drop in, it did flow a little better. I have airraid not K&N but they are practically the same.

Put an Airaid drop in filter in, no noticeable increase in fuel or mileage. Just a lifetime filter if you ask me. Probably will do a better job filtering contaminants.
