My FX4 has no alarm?????

Been reading posts about remote starts and am hearing that my 04 Screw FX4 doesn't have an alarm? Whats the red light and the single honk (with 2 pushes of the button) for then?

Keener,

No alarms come in these trucks from the factory.

The blinking red light indicates that the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) is activated.

Single honk is your indicator that the vehicle recognized your putton press of the keyfob and locked the doors.

When you press the "lock" button twice on the remote, a single honk means that the truck is locked and all doors are closed properly...a double honk means that a door is ajar.

I thought that I had paid an additional 500 bucks or something stupid like that for them to keep the alarm in there.

Was that just for this passive anti -theft sytem that you are talking about ?

Then why is it that when I open the door without pushing the unlock button my horn starts to go off?

Lets get this straightened out....What exactly is the stock system good for? Just door sensors, or is there more than that?

If you have a stock 04 f-150 you sure the horn honks if you open the door? None of the other ones do that I am aware of.

My bad guys, it actually was my dads F350 that had the horn go off.

All this time I thought I had an alarm as well, SOB!

I'll tell you what's up.

With my truck, the owner (me) is a moron. I never actually tested it out. I had a '98 Explorer that had the same fob, horn sounds, PATS system...I just assumed it had an alarm like the Explorer did.

I just went outside right now and tested it. No alarm.

If i lock the door and hit the button again it makes the horn sound and if I open the door from the inside the alarm goes off.

I've met a lot of people with different vehicle makes that assume they have a factory alarm due to the horn responding to the factory remote. A lot of people assume they have an alarm when they see theftlock or security flashing on there dash.

As others above have stated some vehicles do actually copme with a standard factory unit. I know my dads old 02 Limited Explorer had the factory alarm but the 04 Mountaineer doesn't.

With any make guess you can do your own self test or read the owners manual. For what the average vehicle costs the manufactures should offer more than a passive system.
