How much weight will the tailgate hold?
sounds like the beginning of the end of a friendship in the making!
kidding. if in doubt, take the tailgate off? and maybe get a cheap set of ramps at wallymart?

well, ive done this before with many other trucks with no ill effects, gotta think this new ford would be just as sturdy. Another thing to consider is they sell a bed extender for a reason, one would think that it can hold some pounds. Try to minimize the angle with a hill or sharp grade and you should be fine.

Park next to a hill that'll put your tailgate closer to the ground for easier loading. Driving a riding mower up on 2x10s into the bed of a pickup just sounds like a bad idea to me. Work smarter, not harder, my friend.
Lawnmowers fall off boards really easy. It is no problem for the tailgate but take more care in how it's loaded into the truck. I do it with quads and 6x6 ATVs often but those are more capable in climbing. I've had over 1000 pounds going up ramps into the bed of my '88 F-150. Drove another 850 pound ATV off my '01 F-250. That's why I bought the trucks, so they better handle it!

The tailgate will handle a 600 lbs. ATV and a 200 lbs. rider no problem.
As others have stated above - I'd run away from the 2x10 idea.
I have three Versa-Ramps (12" x 72" convex) that I use to load my open class sportbike.
Things go nice and smooth and nothing gets damaged.

I have something like this ramp kit that attach to 2x12's. No problems driving 400 pound (plus rider) ATV's up.
I'm pretty sure the tailgate load capacity is listed in the manual.
Not sure what it is, but previous F150's/Chevs/Dodges were all rated for minimum 500-600 lbs. This was the factory reco meaning that you can go easily 20% beyond this.

I would bet these tailgate ratings were packing at least a safety factor of 1.5 so I wouldnt sweat it. I would think anything around 800 is safe. I too would opt for one of these ramp setups.
