Has anybody leveled out their truck (esp a Super Crew) using drop shackles in the back? Did you use a 2" drop shackle? Any pics?

Where did you get your 2" drop shackles from and do you remember the part number? I have also been looking to either drop the rear or lift the front to level the truck. I was thinking of dropping the rear until I can get a new set of rims and tires to lift the whole thing.

Nice picks of your truck... thank you for the ideas on the rims... they look sweet....

Not trying to be rude but it's almost rare to hear people talking about lowering their trucks VS raising them. Sometimes I think this is a 4x4 only forum. Sweet pic of the lowered ride.

Thanks for the compliments on my truck.

I used the ground force rear lowering shackles. I got them from Truckaddons.com. I just went there to post the link for you, but they dont have them on their site anymore. I have seen them on ebay for anywhere from $45 to $80. There are some cheaper shackles out there though. The Ground Force shackles come with a wedge to correct your pinion angle also, I dont think any of the others do. I dont really think they're needed, but they dont hurt either.

Great looking truck! What size rims are those...20s? I want to go with either 24s or possibly 26s. I will probably go with the 24s because of availablilty, selection and of course price though.

Also from looking at the shackles I have a question....how did you get the bolts out to change the shackles? I have did shackle swapps on 3 different Rams in the past but never seen one where the frame is in the way of removing the bolts. It maybe real self explanitory once you get started...it just kind of through me off when I looked (I should say glanced) at them. Any tips on them?

I did it a while ago but I dont recall it being too difficult. Just supprted the truck with a jack stand and the axle with a jack and removed the bolts. No problems.

Yes my rims are 20's. I was going to go with 22's but I didn't want to spend the extra thousand bucks. Of course about 2 days after I got them my wife asked why I didn't get 22's. At that moment I didn't know if I should've hugged her or run out of the room screaming.

I wish there some kind of kit was made to actually level the rear end of the truck. I want to lower the rear end but, personally the shackles don't drop it enough for me. But if thats all thats there I guess I wouldn't have a choice though.

Tried to post a pic but I can't.

If you want to see pics, go to Ford Truck World and search my gallery--rm328

I sure like the looks of your truck and I've considered lowering mine as well. Do you think it has hurt your payload capacity by lowering it? I'll be hauling a full load of firewood soon and don't want to bottom out the suspension.

I heard someone was coming out with a 3" lowering leaf spring. I dont remember who it was though. I agree with you that it could still be a bit lower in the back. You cant get it with a bigger drop shackle though. There isn't enough clearance to add a longer shackle.

Thanks. I dont haul much in the back of my truck. I do have a couple of 4wheelers on I trailer that I tow with it though. The suspension feels exactly the same as it did before. Will it bottom out easier? I really dont know. The stock suspension is a bit soft/mushy in the rear to begin with IMO.

So a 2in drop will not make the back end set lower than the front then? I have seen 1, 1.5 and 2 inch shackles. I was afraid the 2in would make it squat too much but from what you guys are saying the 2in would be fine....correct?

Even with the 2 in. drop, the rear will still be higher than the front.

Would a flip kit lower the rear too much?
