auto spring 2"(1 5/8")
hey ya'll. new to the board here. first off i would like to say thanks to everyone posting all the great info on the autospring kit. It surely helped with the install. I installed mine last night on my 2004 fx4 supercab. It took approximately 2 hours. All in all, it went pretty well, the only thing that was hard was getting the upper control arm balljoint back into the top of the spindle, maybe there was an easier way, but that is what took the longest. I will post some pics when i get a chance. next thing is an alignment tonight. the whole truck was exactly level, then i drove it around for about 15 minutes, now there is about an inch difference, which is what i wanted. I am very pleased with the kit. There Thanks to everyone who posted about tapping the balljoint to get it out, i have torn many a dust boot on ball joints with a pickled fork, so that helped out greatly.
When you get it aligned, you will probable end up with the rear of the truck 1” higher than the front, perfect. Both the left and right tires were toed-in .06 after I installed my Autospring kit; everything else fell within the factory specs. I used the Autospring 1 ½” kit which is actually 1 5/8”. Now they call the 1 5/8” spacers kit 2”. Why don’t they just say they’re 1 5/8” and get it over with?
they really need to clear it up. when i ordered mine, i ordered the 1 1/2 kit, and then i looked on the forum, and found the discrepancies. So e mailed auto spring back, especially when the confirmation email said they were shipping me the 2" kit, which later i found out WAS the 1 1/2.
wow, i'm confused myself. So between the 1 1/2" and 2" spacers..... what do you end up with them as far as difference from front to back??
you say 2" spacer gets the front 1" lower than the rear...... so where would i end up if i got the 1" spacer??
I plan on getting a cover soon, not sure what style yet. Only other thing, i may put my bike in there now and then to get it to shop for services, thats it though.
suggestions?
get those pics up marshy!

The name of the autospring kit is the amount of lift it provides. They make a 2" and a 2-1/2" kit. This means if you buy the 2" kit, your front end will sit 2" higher than it did before, etc.
The 2" kit uses a 1-5/8" spacer to get the 2" height change.
The 2-1/2" kit uses about a 1-3/4" spacer to raise the front end 2-1/2"
They USED to briefly make a 1.5" kit which used a spacer that was probably a little over an inch thick. They discontinued this kit. The 1.5" autospring kit is no longer made.
If they called the 1-5/8" spacer a 1-5/8" lift kit, I for one would be ticked off when I was expecting a 1-5/8" lift, but ended up with two. It's actually simpler for them to name the kits this way.
anyone saying the have a 1.5" autospring kit is most likely technically mistaken.

The kit you order is the amount of lift you get . the actual spacer measurement is slightly less. The wheel well may not be a good measurement. I measured mine from the rocker panel this being a true straight line of level. My rear is about 1/2 higher then the front. I used the 2.5 " leveling spacer. Taking into account the asphalt has high and lows . When i find a good concrete pad i will measure the rocker again to see if there is a variance.

hmmm thanks for the feedback guys. No wonder i couldn't find info on the autospring website about the 1.5" spacer...... Ok, so 2" sounds like the way to go, will leave about a 1" rake, right!?
makes sense to why they call them what they do and not using the 5/8 3/4 etc...

I'd have sent it back...The 1.5" kit that is no longer made is the one I would like to have. I'm afraid the 2" would make it too level--I do a lot of hauling and towing. and do not want it to sag.
I emailed them not too long ago about this. They said they could fabricate the 1.5" again, for around the same price i believe. They did say that they recommend the 2" spacer though, to get more of a leveled look.
Inbred....... Just give Kevin a call at Autospring, he is the owner. I had originally ordered the 2" lift kit (spacer measures 1 5/8") but after viewing some of the photos on this site I felt the trucks looked TOO level with this kit, if you know what I mean. I haul a boat, etc... I don't want the frontend in the air while hauling... I called Kevin, he said they no longer offer a 1 1/2" lift kit (spacer measures just under 1 1/2 ") but after explaining my situation he fabbed up the smaller spacers for me and switched them for the other spacers. This kit will give you roughly 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches of front end lift. That to me is juuuust right. Just tell him you need the 1 1/2 lift kit which is no longer offered. Good luck bro.
Stuka--you running any larger tires with that setup? That's definately what I'm looking for, thanks for the info. I would like to go with a little larger tires, if only the 2" lift will clear them, I guess that's what I'll have to do. That'll be a project 40,000 miles down the road when my tires die.
I'm running 325/60-18's with the 2inch lift, no problems at all. I have not heard of anyone having any warranty issues with this product whatsoever and probably half the guys on this board are running some sort of leveling kit.
