over filling gas tank

my last vehichle (mercury sable), had a 16 gallon tank....when it was really low i would let the gas settle as i filled it and actually put in 17 plus gallons before.....will doing this on the f150 do anything to compromise the emmision sensors (long run) or does it not really matter....i really would like to fill all the way, not till the pump shuts off......usually when pumping gas as fast as it will come out it seems to have alot of air, so i have in the past just let it settle a moment and keep topping off.....that ok? thanks all!

filling it all the way isnt going to hurt a thing, nothin to hurt, unless gas runs all over the side of your truck....you wont be able to measure MPG very acturately if you do that though......

I found that if you get a little spill come out there is actually a small hole that allows it to drain to the inside of the body instead of running down the side. Thought this was a pretty neat little feature.
