Cool New truck owner here...........

Hi all, i recently turned in an 02 7700 scab 4x4 and ended up with this truck....

04 FX4 Scab
4x4, 5.4, 3.73 LS, 18" LT GoodYears
Black Ext w/ Black Int
Build Date: late July 2004

...i liked the 02 a lot, this was a lease turn in and i was tempted to keep the 7700 but after seeing and driving the 04 firsthand i quickly made up my mind.

First off, i'd like to thank all the new owners who provided feedback to the group and tips on the various issues they've noticed....helps a prospective buy/lease, much appreciated.

I'm pretty much impressed with this truck, here are some things i noticed right away.....

1. the ride seems better on the 04 as far as large bumps at speed go, but, sometimes it feels as if light bumps at low speed during city driving are slightly worse...dunno if i'm imagining this or not....anyways i consider this minor.

2. definite difference in throttle response....99% is somthing i can get used to and would consider minor, except when i try and inch my truck into it's underground stall which has a very slight grade.......you have to be very careful.

3. seems to be much quieter at speed and easier to drive faster w/o knowing.

4. i have not noticed any vibe issues at all at any speed.

5. i do have the drive-line shudder when accelerating away from a dead stop...it disaappears in a second or two...it is very slight though.

I have a question related to point 5. Have any of you noticed the shudder disappearing or getting less as time goes on? As i consider this probably near the latest build date on an 04, i'm wondering if any remedial action has been applied already during assembly.....the shudder is very very slight indeed.....in all honesty i've driven other LS rearends that did this sometimes. I guess i'll have to keep an eye on it and maybe grill my service guy once i get a few thousand klicks on it. Anyways overall, i'm very happy with this new machine!

Andy,

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your new truck.

Regarding item #1, you may want to check your tire pressure. I (and others) found that the tires were inflated to 45 psi at delivery. Once the pressure was lowered, some of those bumps weren't so noticeable.

I've got a slight shudder when turning from a dead stop. I consider that normal with the LS.

Enjoy!

Congratulations on the new truck. You will get use to the lag in throttle response when parking. It's the lack of a quick response in traffic that you will miss the most.

Another new owner was bumbed they didn't get any nanners... didn't want to repeat it.

Enjoy the new ride

Cool

....a triple shott of nanners thx, i got four now.
Yeh i 'll have to see what my experience will be, the throttle lag does seem apparent while driving too......i'll see how i feel about it a few thousand later. I'll have to do some research on what remedial action there is if it turns out nagging me too much....i would imagine i 'd have the latest eeprom software with an end of July build date.

Cool

thx, and thx for the nanner's.......yeh, we shall see how things go once i roll down the highway a bit more. btw i like that blue/grey tutone you got there......there were a couple like that at my dealer
but they had the 17 rims, tried to get em to swap some 18s on them but they wouldn't, even if a guy adjusts the price up a bit....i guess they can't mess with a vehicles' option level. But the all black works too.
