dlphelps you have the old style from 97 up what shake would you have. I had two of those body styles and they were beautifull trucks.

I wouldn't take the truck. If it was something repairable through a TSB, fine, but they have yet to find a fix for this yet. It may be a while - but I would honestly wait for the fix. I know it sucks when you got the new truck buyers fever but it'll be the best for you (and your eventual truck) in the long run.

rcullinan - Are Goodyears or General tires on the truck ?

Thanks to this board I took mine for an extensive test drive before I bought it last week.

Flat spots on tires

FIrst of all you need to determine if the shaking is from flat spots on the tires. If the shaking goes away after driving for 5 minutes or so, then its most likely the tires flat-spotting.

Auto manufacturers generally ship vehicles with the tires over inflated to prevent this from occuring. Some tires are also more susceptible than others to flat spotting after sitting around.

the '01 xlt 4x2 i recently traded in had the shakes... so far (600 miles), the '04 xlt 4x4 i traded the shaky one in for does not....
