12 inch Sub in Reg. Cab '04 !!
12 inch Sub in Reg. Cab '04 !!
Spent the afternoon working on a new box for my 12" Alpine Subwoofer. I have a reg cab, and have been using the standard wedge box I used in my old vehicle. I had to cram it in there, and it eliminated storage behind the seats, and it sounded and looked pretty bad. There's a pic in my gallery of it. Anyway, here's my new box. By using the extra space behind the armrest/console and making it stepped like I did, I could use the 12" sub firing downward. These pics are still unfinished, all I need is carpet once the sealant cures completely. Already had it in and it sounds and looks soooooooooo much better (except for the carpet thing). Also allows the seats to go the whole way back and recline completely. Also no longer visible to potential thieves. Will Post more pics after the carpet and final install.

Thanks guys. I spent a couple days tinkering around with measurements and what not. Sub is an Alpine S 12" I could have made it more compact, but I wanted a ported box, so I needed 1.5 cubic foot to be ideal. Huge difference compared to what I had. Best thing is, I had all the materials lying around, it didn't cost nothin but my time.
nice job man!! way to go in puting the rear of the reg cab to use!! I've been thinking about using that rear space as well... but right now i'm just so happy with the truck that im not quite ready to redo the stereo system. I'm happy with it all stock(stereo) for now. But im sure eventually i will redo it. I made a similar setup like that in my previous truck... only it was an ext. cab s10 and i had 2 alpine type s 10's which i still have lying around....
Goodluck with it all... keep us posted on the progress!

Box Finished! (pics)
Got carpet on my box today. I wasn't very particular with the bottom of it, after all, who's gonna see it? just took a picture to show off the speaker. Rest of the carpeting job came out great. A downfiring, ported box sounds soo much better than I expected. Here's the finished box:
i agree, i had my 2 10's downfiring and the sound was really good! Nice job on the carpet.

Inbred that is some great work, now sell them on ebay, money for more mods LOL . Really bet they would sell faster then you could build. Want to add a little more kick to my 6cd have to see what will work .
I've got a big sony xplod running everything. They aint the greatest amps in the world, but we have a sony outlet here that sells factory refurbished stuff with a full warranty. For the price they charge, they can't be beat. I replaced all 4 factories with infinity 6x8's. I've got the amp running in 3 channel mode; front and back speakers on each side are wired in parallel with a high pass filter, and the back channel is bridged into the mono sub with a low pass filter. The front to back fader then controlls the ratio of bass to highs.
