6 1/2 '

I know by mentioning a certain word I may be in trouble..... but if Chevy can put a 6 1/2' bed on a SCREW and Ford can do one on a F250... why can't one be put on a F150? I am being "forced" by my wife to consider a Chevy because it has mor ecomfortable leg room in a SCAB. I need the 6 1/2 ft bed too.

That would be ugly in my opinion. Dont know why Ford doesnt do it though, it would sell.

Its because the cab is so huge. They can do it on the 250 since it has a stronger & longer frame (longer becuase its stronger).
Ever compare the cabin space between the chebby & ford? With a font seat all the way back on the track, you can still fit another 6-footer behind them w/o issue. It's awesome.

Use the bed extender, problem solved. Or, buy a 250. I'd stay away from a noiser, weaker-framed ugly inside & out chebby. You'll be mocked by all your friends.

They finally slammed out a 4 door on the 1500 this year or last. The trade rags ripped on it for being an afterthought, GM had to toss something on the market to compete...

To me, it's just like the Dodge 4 doors.. it just doesn't look right. It seems to barely bigger than a super cab with a stubby rear door.... yuck.

IMO Ford and the Nissan Titan are the only two that pull of the crew cab well. Granted the Titan has the bigger bed though.

But the interior on my Screw Fords is so much bigger! I am 6'3" and easily fit with the front seats all the way back.

Gotta love Ford!

All I know is if Ford made a 6 1/2 ft bed in a Screw 150 I'd buy one in a sec... But when you get two kids in the back of a scab and their toes are digging in your back or if I move the seat up and lick the windshield, and a Chevy fits the kids better I can't convince the wife to get a Ford. Plus i really need the longer bed but don't have the cash to put out for a 250.. though I would in a heart beat.

Umphhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

How big are these kids? I figured there should be a ton of room in a scab for little monsters. Plus, with as super thick as the seats are, how can you feel anything?!

And What's the obsession with a 6.5ft bed?

Im pretty sure the Chev 1500 Crew is a shorty bed. Its the 2500 and 1500HD (which is their heavy duty with less spring) that had 6-1/2 and 8' beds available. Just as the f250/350s do.

But with the 1500, I dont think they are selling the 1500HD anymore.

Well, I went to Chebby's site. A silverado 1500 1500 w/ Z71 pkg only comes in a 5.7ft bed.

Only the 1500HD (still available for '05) comes with a 6.5ft bed. But that starts at 32.5K for a 4x2 base LS model. A loaded 1500HD is right in F250 territory.
