XLT in an XL

Hi guys, I was looking at replacing my xl dash bezel w/o a tach to the xlt version w/ a tach.I see NR Auto Accessories offers a replacement white face gauge for $99.00.Anyone replace theirs yet, was it a PITA to do yourself ?Thank's

Swapping the XLT cluster for the XL should be no problem. Ford uses a generic wiring harness, so all the connections should be there. I would track down a good wiring diagram though, just to help you make sense of the connections.

Also I remember seeing that you need to take it into a dealer to have them set the odometer on it. Probably best to have them install it too, I remember seeing it was like $85 more for them to install.

the gauge face will do you no good; you need the entire new cluster first. The gauge face is just the backround; you need the dials and needles to fit it first as you reuse them. The new gauge cluster is a pretty pricey part.
