New Guy...need some help

Although I have been lurking around the site for a while, this is my first post. I have a Black '04 SuperCrew Lariat. I need some help/advice with some stuff. 1) I am going to replace the air intake. 2) I am going to replace the tires.

1) I have looked around the site and it seems like everyone on here is pretty much going with the Airaid or AirForce 1 systems. Before I started checking out this site, I was basically set on the K&N. Are there major differences (good/bad) between the K&N and the Airaid or AF1? I was also trying to get some information on Ariaid's warranty, but came up empty handed.

2) I want to put some bigger tires on this rig, but I don't want to get a lift kit. Can anyone tell me how big I can go without losing my turning radius due to rub.

Thanks a lot in advance, guys. Great site!

Chris

1.) "K&N's AirCharger® Off-Road & Racing Performance Kits are similar to FIPK’s except they are NOT legal for sale or use on pollution controlled vehicles in some states and they come with K&N’s Off-Road/Racing Limited Warranty" that's from K&N's website. Just something to be aware of.

The AF1 has not been released yet for the 5.4L, and I have no opinion on the Airaid since I don't have one.

2) do you have 17" or 18" wheels. the largest for the 17" would be 285/70R17, the 18" i'm not too sure.

1. I installed the AIRAID intake system on my XLT 5.4 took me about an hour was extremely simple to do. The AIRAID system has a lifetime warranty, will not nullify your factory warranty, and is built specifically for the new 04 5.4 3v Triton. Mike Troyer over at Troyer Performance Backs them up 100% as the only one for the 5.4 at this point.

2. As for the tires I think the largest you can roll with on a non-lifted 4x4 is 33"s but I could be wrong. I put a 6" ProComp lift on mine and 36" SuperSwamper Iroks. The ride is still super smooth for a lifted 4x4 with Mud tires.

My suggestions are to get the 1714 SuperChip tuner and Intake system first then check out the difference in your rides capability. Troyer Performance gives a great discount on the 1714 Tuner just tell them your user name on this message board.
