Mild Mods
I am a first time Ford Truck owner and love my new 2004 F150 FX4 Screw. I've been digging thru all the forums and like what I've been reading. You guys rock.
I decided to go on the mild side for some basic mods. For starters I installed a True Flow drop-in air filter $50. Next up was the exhaust. Fred's Muffler & Brake installed an aluminized Magnaflow SI/SO and a nifty stainless tip $225. Wow, what a difference. She has a smooth mellow growl and feels more responsive.
I need to take it to the dealer for the first oil change next week. They gave me a free coupon. I've read of PCM re-flashes done by the dealer. Any thoughts on this?
Man, I love this truck.

Ed congrats on your buy .
. So did you see a difference with the K&N drop it . Exhaust shops can give great prices at times and that was cheap compared to what i've seen them in the forums. Mine was $350 installed not worth rolling under truck for LOL.

First, welcome to the club! And congrats on the ride, I'm sure you'll be a 2nd, 3rd, and maybe 4th Ford owner from now on.
I wouldn't worry about the PCM reflash unless you have issues. Issues being **** poor gas milage (to early to tell for you), sluggish response, quirky shifting, etc...
Last, 'nanners for the new guy!!!

The K&N filters are gauze....the True Flow is foam. Buff Truck in St. Charles told me they like them better than K&N. They carry both products and cost about the same. I noticed a little action with just that. The exhaust really helped.

Poor gas mileage is a concern of mine. Ford claims 14/18 and I average about 13. I am hoping that after a few more miles it will get better. She only has 1200 miles on her.
Anyway....thanks for the welcome.
