alternator click

Does anyone elses alternator click while the engine is running? Sounds like a baseball card in bike spokes.

That's your a/c unit, not the alternator. It's perfectly normal as the unit cycles.

No problem. A lot of new owners are noticing it and don't know what the hell is going on. Just turn up the toons and enjoy the ride.

Mine clicks in the morning on start up for about 5 minutes. The air conditioner isn't even running.

WTF? Now you guys are talkin' crazy... changing oil filters, injectors noise... startup clickin'...

Do you guys have your heads on the hood for a bit before you go driving?! The only 'click' you should be hearing is the a/c unit. It's a periodic loud *CLICK* when it cycles. No pattern, not effected by oil, startup temps, etc....

Yer right I don't hear nutt'n unless the hood is up, or I'm standing in front of it in the garage.
The only sound I hear in the cab is the thump'n of the sub

The a/c will cycle in defrost mode for winter time. It's a timed cycle and not constant. This is to keep compressor and clutch free and not locking up. If you click goes away after a short time it may be some thing else;. Injector noise is normal since it's a electric solinode that pulses. If you here a constant cold start tick that goes away have it look at . One member here had a bad tick was his lifter they replaced then ended up with a new engine. Have it looked at . Some of the new engine's have a head problem not confirmed but you never know it's just a mechanical machine that does break. Thats why Ford warranty's them and we buy E.S.P.

engine click

I have that clicking noise for the first 45 seconds when I start my truck in the morning, I did not think it was a big deal.

Injectors will click some but a lifter will produce a very loud click that you would hear in the cab.
