Question Tire Size After Leveling

AFTER INSTALLING THE DAYSTAR OR ONE OF THE OTHER KITS OUT THERE. WHAT IS THE LARGEST TIRE,WHEEL COMBINATION YOU CAN RUN. I HAVE HEARD AND READ THAT 33'S ARE THE LARGEST TIRE WITH OUT RUBBING BUT HAVE ALSO READ AND HEARD THAT YOU CAN RUN 35'S IF YOU KEEP THE STOCK WHEEL. FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD,NO ONE MAKES AN AFTER MARKET WHEEL THAT HAS THE SAME BACK SPACING AS THE STOCK 18" WHEELS. I AM PLANNING ON RUNNING A 35" TIRE BUT DONT WANT TO GO AS MUCH AS A 6"LIFT. I AM LEANING MORE TORWARD THE 3" SKY JACKER BUT AS SOMEONE ELSE HERE HAS POSTED EVERY SHOP I HAVE TALKED TO SAY'S IT IS ON BACK ORDER. ANY HELP WILL BE GREAT.

FIRST FOR THE LOVE OF PETE STOP SHOUTING. PRESS THE CAPS LOCK KEY BEFORE YOU TYPE AGAIN!!!

Anywho... First, the 35" tire if you keep your stock wheel is insane, smack whoever told you that.

33" tires are the maximum tire you can safely fit with a level kit. Now, others will tell you (and have pics) of their trucks w/ a level kit ridin' on 35s. The problem I see with these trucks is it's gonna be useless off-road. Once you start to get some axel articulation, those huge 35s are not going to be able to clear the wheel well and I'm scared to see the results. Yikes! While the 33s will still have plenty of room while sitting, you need that clearance for axel articulation.

There is a reason no one makes an aftermarket tire w/ the same backspacing as the stock... they are all wider!!! This changes everything.

Best of luck on your new combo... I have the daystar level kit, and after much deliberation, I think I'm gotta stick with the safer 33" tire & some form of aftermarket wheel... now I'm just trying to pick a wheel...

Actually, I've seen several 04 4x4's with 35's, stock wheels and just a 2.5 inch leveling kit. Most of these people are running 315/70-17 (35x12.50) BFG AT KO's. THey say they clear while off roading, but I don't know by how much. I suspect by very little. You could play it safe and go with 33's, but the largest OEM tires are almost 33's. Also, just because a wheel is wider doesn't mean it has to have less backspacing. My aftermarket 16x10's have the same backspacing as my OEM 16x7's (4 1/2 inches).

Point is, 35s look jammed under the truck when you only have a leveling kit. I am with D that the best bet is 33s. I cant see how the 35 would let you have full articulation with only a leveling kit but hey I dont have that setup so I dont know.
As far as backspacing...AE Alloys have 5" backspacing which is close to the stock. Of course since the wheel is a 9" width wheel, it sticks out a couple inches but looks great.
Go with 33s.

Tire size after leveling

First off sorry about the caps. Thanks for the info. I think I am going to wait for the 3 inch Sky Jacker kit and go with the 35's. Thanks again.

I just like a full looking wheel well. I do agree for heavy off roading then 33's would be best with the leveling kit but i think the 35's fill those huge wells alot better.

Heres my 35" with the 6" lift.

So you can see that the 35s would be tight with less. IMO.
But hey if you want to ride 35s do it. It just might be a little tight.

Does anyone have any feed back or suggestions about the auto spring kit vs the daystar.

You can't go wrong with either. Some bash the daystar for a stiffer ride, but I gotta tell ya I don't feel any diff from stock. They also site the AutoSpring easier to install. I had a shop do it and alighnment performed. Easy as pie!

I love my Daystar, and others love their Auto Spring. Flip a coin and go get it!

I agree on the lifts, either one will get the job done. I have the autospring 1 5/8" spacer and think it's great.
Just my .02 worth on the tires. If you've got the 4x4 and stay with the stock rims I'd suggest the BFG 315/70/17's which is 34.5" x 12. That's what I have on my FX4 Supercrew and they fit and look great IMO. If I were going with a wider or different wheel and was only going with the front leveling kit then I would go with a 33" tire. I looked at dozens of pics and read hundreds of posts before deciding what to do with mine. Good luck!

I would if I could, I just don't have the right camera equipment to do it. If you'll look at and search the photo galleries for "Chemgod", he's got the same set up. My truck is dark shadow grey vs. his blue and he used a diferent leveling kit, but the end result is the same.
