What size tires??? eBay ad

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

What size tires do you think those are? I am looking to get this set of wheels and would like the exact same stance as this grey screw.

Thanks,
Matt

If I had to guess I would say 33s, they are too small for 35s for sure.

I'd say 33s at the most! I'm with Eddy - no WAY those are larger..

So likely a 285-70-17 then?

most tires that size are about $180.00 + a tire.

Well I'll get function with looks tho. Since the truck will see snow and off-road the tires will need to be a decent brans and aggressive tread pattern.

Thanks!

Im only going to say this once more (even though I know I will say it on about 5 more posts in the next month). If you pay $180 a tire for basic all-terrains you are nutts. I got my 35s for $90 each (do a search for Hummer if you want to know how) and even if that wouldnt work I would just wait till procomp does buy 3 get one free again and get all 4 for under $500 shipped. But its your money...I sell used offroad mud for $20 a pound if you want some of that too.

I don't want 35" tires because I have a 4.6 with 3.55 gears. It might cost me $90.00 each tire but then I will have to do a gear swap to and also have my PCM recalibrated for 35" tires and a lift as well.

wheels 500.00------------my way----500.00
tires 360.00--------------------------800.00
gears 1000.00-------------------------000.00
lift 150.00--------------------------150.00
calib 100.00--------------------------000.00
--------------------------------------------------------
--------2110.00-------------------------1450.00

I am not sure if there is a cost savings there but there might be by not changing to a 35" tire.

Maybe I'm doing the math wrong here.

Please let me know if I have added something up wrong.

I'm looking for what i stated for earlier I would love to go and get the tires from Hummer and may at some point but right now I am looking to get something on my truck that doesn't look like it belongs on a base model ranger. That and the handle the road for $H!T. So anything is better that will help driveability and also the looks and offroad ability.

And as far as mud goes I sell it here for $45.00 .lbs.

Not really attacking you because I'm just looking for something not so TALL.

Thanks,
Matt

Hey no prob. But I will let you know that even if you go with 33s you are still going to need a recal of your speedo. Honestly after talking to the dealer if you dont recal the PCM (Ford Recal not SCT) for larger tires then you cant argue too much with them about warranty issues with the rear end or even the transmission since it will now be shifting at the wrong times - not my words, Ford Service words.
Now as far as smaller than 35s (which will fit a daystar but 33s I hear go better with that) you can easily get Procomp allterrains with the 50k mile tread life for far less than $500 if you do it right and arent in a rush (Procomp buy 3 get one free).
I am going to post all this on monday but heres how I did it.

Wheels: AE Alloys $450 (total - Shipped) - davesmobileauto.com
Tires: 35" BFG All Terrains $360 (total) + $40 mount and balance
Lift including labor, painted red and red calipers $1900
Ford Recalibration quoted at 1 hour of labor ~$80

The truck you posted looks like it only has a leveling kit with 33s on it. You should be able to get all that for less than what you stated, but thats up to you. For me it was worth it to take my time and look around for a couple months and not just go do it. Waiting saved me about $1000 and I didnt have that to **** away on being in a hurry.

Oh but I will buy some of that mud!!!

Anything else just ask.

Eddy,

I am going to wait as I will most liklely d oall this as the snow starts to hit the ground. but will more than likely get the parts as I find them on sale or good deals. I can stock pile and do this stuff at my leisure. I just want to make sure I have the right components I want on the truck and I am not going to over kill it.

I will be towing a trailer 2-3K a year as I have a race car. 35" tires may not have a good enough load rating for me to feel that I am safely towing 7K lbs. behind the truck. At some point I will put 4.30 gears in to help with the towing as well. I am not worried about the lower mpg that will come with that change as I had a 00 tahoe before and it wouldn't get any better than 14 on the highway and no more than 13 city. If I lose 2-3 mpg on the highway I will only be down the 18-17mpg. I have been averaging 20 on my trips lately.

I will look into the buy 3 get one free deal hopefully that will be sometime soon.

I am undecided as to which leveling kit to get as of yet.

Just let me know when you want some of that mud and I can bag it up and ship it out same day.

Thanks for the info!

Matt

If you do want to level out the truck, be sure to think about air bags or helper springs or something for the rear, because it will sag when towing.
I dont know what load rating you need, my 35s are rated at D.
They may be a little much for you though, youre right.
33s would work.
Great mpg, I only get about 13-15 city and about 10-12 with the lift in the city.

Heres a pic of those very wheels (Eagle Alloys 186 series) on my truck with Procomp 33/12.50/17's. They fill up the wheel wells very nicely but I really dont think you will be able to get 35's in there.

sweaver,

Where and how much for the Procomp 33/12.50/17's if you don't mind me asking?

Also do you have a leveling kit on your truck? If so which one?

Very nice looking truck!

Thanks,
Matt

I got the wheels and tires from a place in Jacksonville Fl. They were delivered to my door mounted and balanced (bought wheels and tires from them) for $1060. Just popped them on and was ready to roll. I have the Daystar leveling kit on there. The tires wouldnt have fit without it.
