Couple of off roading pics!

you are right! There are some huge trucks down there. I would guess some of them have so much ground clearance and huge tires that they could probably run onto the beach in 2wd...LOL I stay in Avon every summer, and have a blast there everytime. Also, you are right about the bigger trucks being around Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills, that's where all of the action is at. Anyway, glad you had a good time, and maybe we can meet up one year down there and gets the trucks really dirty.....take care man.

Hey Big sherm, nice pics. Glad you had a good time at the OBX.
As a matter of fact, I just got back today. I was out in Kill Devil Hills for the Labor Day weekend. I went up to Corolla where the route 12 ends and the fun begins. It is amazing. Beach for miles. I bet you could drive right up into Va. I unfortunately did not take any pics. The wind, surf and sea spray was very bad due to Frances kicking up some rouch weather. I didn't want to gum up the camera. I don't have big mudders like you but I had no problem on the beach and didn't have to deflate the tires. In fact half of the beach is smoother than the road. I drove in both and went through about a 1/4 tank of gas in no time.
Your right about those trucks down there. They are huge. It's a good little business they got going. I'm sure they charge an arm and a leg pulling people out of the sand that should not be there. The last time I was down there some RV looking thing got stuck down at Oregon Inlet.

Last year I saw an old International Scout pulling people off of the beach at Or Inlet left and right. I was supprise that thing still ran, but it pulled people off like it was nothing. I can tell you this, if someone wants to test the pulling power of their truck they should give that beach a shot, man that place is a nightmare. But, I guess you already know that don't you? Glad to hear you had fun.

Oh Hersh, a little off topic but I thought you would be interested. I took my truck in for its 6k service before I drop it off for the Procomp install. Anyway, they deal with a lot of lifted trucks still under warranty and they strongly suggested I bring it in right after the lift to get a once over and have the computer recalibrated for the bigger tires. They said they most likely wont get it to 35 inch tires but they can get at least to 33 or 34. The guy was pretty cool about it and said its good to do that because then its on Fords paper work that you have Ford Service make adjustments to the truck to "keep it within spec" this way if there ever was a problem with say the tranny or the rear end they can pull the papers saying it was adjusted so no warranty issues arise. Of course the 1714 is still a must but it also will look good to bring it in to Ford just so you have that added sercurity.
