Help w/ Superchip 1714 please!

After programming with the 1714 (performance tune), the shifting got SIGNIFICANTLY sharper. The shifting from 2nd to 3rd at full acceleration is REALLY nice. The shifting from 1st to 2nd is so hard, so violent, that I fear tearing up my rearend (I know its not likely to tear up a Ford rearend...but still).
Can I adjust this shiftpoint to make it closer to the shifting I "feel" going from 2nd to 3rd?
....

Mine did the same thing (Knocking your filling out) 2nd gear shifts. I went back into the program and changed the shift pressures to 8psi over stock . Works much nicer, soild on hard excell but smooth at cruise. I really like how fast it kicks down into the lower gear. Over all I'm 70% happy with the product.

I installed mine last night and was not overly impressed with the power gains. I have heard people state that they are able to break the tires loose etc and that they are getting a chirp going into second gear. Mine wont even turn the tires at all, and I have stock tires. Maybe it needs to be driven more for it to take hold but I know its in there as the trans shifts hard enough to make the belt squeek in first and second. Oh well this is a truck after all and it was not meant to be raced so breaking the tires loose is not a big deal for me I just guess I expected more.

That could have alot to do with gears in diff and cab size.

Yeah but I have a one legger supercab and 17 inch wheels it should by all means turn the tire, especially since there are people here stating they can turn them with ls and supercab cab config. I know they may have 3:73 gears and I have a 3:55 but the difference in tire size and ls to open diff should more than compensate for that.

@ rubrnek,
RTFM!

@ JDaddy,
Troyer Performance's own web page for the 1714 (LINK) states that the power gains are 20 HP (24 in some RPM range) with high octane fuel. That's only 6.66 - 8 % over stock. On a truck that weighs as much as the '04 F-150 does, it's not going to make much difference. Keep in mind, the only thing that the 1714 is doing is messing with the PCM (i.e. changing parameters in software). There's only so much you can do with software!

Personally, I'm very impressed with what the 1714 has done for my SCrew (see my signature). I especially like the much improved throttle response. Firmer shifting is a plus. My shift from 1-2 is very hard during heavy acceleration using the SuperChips setting. So, I think I'm going to go back in and reduce the pressure on that one. That would be my only gripe, and it's very easy to fix.

SilvrDrgn yep read all that already thanks, like I said I guess I was expecting it to do that since others are getting that type of performance out of it. Its not that big of deal if I wanted to turn the tires I will get a mustang 05 (what a nice looking car).

Anyways the shifts do seem pretty brutal I think I will back my down as well. I dont want it to shift that hard when I am in the white stuff.

Well, I got my tuner yesterday and installed it this morning. So far I'm not to impressed. The power increase doesn't seem too noticable to me. Yeah it shifts harder but I'm not convinced that is so great after trying it. I've adjusted the shift pressure down and it's not as bad but... I'll leave it how it is for a while and see if I like it any better and maybe try adjusting it later. I know most of you guys and gals are happy with your tuners, and I'm happy for you. However, if I had known then what I know now I would've saved my money.

87 performance tune is OK. I like the throttle response a lot. Gas mileage, if you are smooth with the gas, is a bit better than stock. I like the shifting. Worth the money to me.
I will try 93 octane tomorrow. I would like to know if I have to go back to stock before programing the 93 tune?

I have the Tow/Perf option loaded and the biggest change I noticed was the next gear picks up and goes before the rpm's drop down so far as with stock.

I'll admit, I was a little dissappointed at first, but I don't push my engine very hard.

Don't expect huge gains, but I'd spend the money again, especially if towing and burning high octane.

My mileage has gone up a bit also.

It's a funny thing on the one hard take off my tires break loose and squal next time they dont i think they have it programmed to stop tire spin. I don't have the tuner yet but my truck did run better when i tried higher octane by it's self for a mileage comparison.

No, you don't. You could, but it would just waste time doing two tunes instead of one. Here's what I did over the past few days (taken from my post in another thread):

I had the 87 Octane tune installed for a while now. Running great! Over the weekend, I ran the gas tank down as far as I could considering the driving I was doing. I filled up with just over 26 gallons of 93 Octane. (I believe the SCrew has a 30 gallon tank.) At this point, I did not install the Hi-Performance tune. I wanted to run the truck for a while to get the 93 Octane into the fuel system first.

Regardless of other problem reports with doing it, I decided take a risk and try a "retune" with my 1714 this morning. I went directly from the 87 Octane tune to the Hi-Performance tune. It reprogrammed my PCM without any problems at all. My truck's running excellent. The throttle response is near perfect, and acceleration is so quick and smooth now it's unreal! Love this thing!! Now I'm gonna run with the Hi-Perf tune for a few tanks to see if my mileage improves like other people have reported.
