Ham Radio Install-FX4

I need to run 2 power leads through the firewall of my truck. I know there is a hole and a rubber grommet on the driver's side of the firewall near the steering column. Are there any other holes in the firewall on the passenger side that I can't see? I would rather not run the power leads through where they can interfere with the steering and pedal linkeage.

Talking Me too

Just finished adding my HF rig just under the center seat cushion. I already had my dual bander there. I added a power run at the rubber plug you mention. I put that ribbed tubing over it and routed it up into the dash then away from the peddles and steering column. Then under the flooring to under the center seat area.

That said my High Sierra Sidekick antenna arrives tomorrow.

The line up is a Yaesu 8100 and Icom 706 MKII. VHF/UHF antenna mounted on diamond lip mount on passenger rear door top and the Sidekick going on the same place on the driver side rear door top.

I remote both control heads just under the cig lighter. Don't have a center console.

The center seat cushion just lifts right out.

Good luck with your install!

Pics?

Does anyone have any pics of there install? I was going to put my Kenwood 241 in the center console, but when I got the truck I realized it wasn't as big as I initially thought. Not sure where I am going to put it now.
Thanks
Brad

On passanger side pull up the plastic cover on floor where the wire harness runs through. If you look on the floor under wiring harness toward front of truck you should see a rubber grommet. I ran my power through here for my Amp. It runs under the truck and then you can feed up behind the wheel well up to the battery. I used a protective sleave from battery to the rubber grommet to protect against abrasion. You can cut the middle out of rubber grommet and feed your power lead through it to protect from edges of sheet metal.

Hope this helps.
