Don't do it...

Save your money...

Get your first oil change at 3000K, Ford recommends 5000K.

You cannot switch to Full Syn. right away... You need to break-in your motor, even though there is not a break-in period...

Switch after 5,000K or so!?!

Just my opinion!!!

I thought one of the purposes of the Mobil 1 syn oil is to also enable you go push the oil changes out farther than 3K - 5K miles? If I still change my oil every 5K, why switch to Mobil 1?

Intervals

Oil Change Intervals:

It is a waste of money and resources to change your oil 3-5 on full syn oil.

If you run 5w20 Motorcraft oil, you save money, and if you change it every 3000k miles, it is still fresh...

Ford would not put inferior oil in or recommend for use in these trucks or any vehicle... Look who's paying the bill if something happens...

Also, notice that no one on this forum has ever talked about motor related issues... The 4.6 is tried and tested, and the new 5.4L 3V has been tested to the max and is a real winner...

Save your money, Motorcraft @ Wal-Mart...

The way I get around the 1st filter being tight, I let the dealership give me my first oil change free!!!

My dealership offers free oil for as long as I own the piggy. I am going in at every 3000k to change it out to!

Doesn't FORD require an oil change every 3000 miles?????

I'm an avid fan of Mobile1, been using it for years in my cars, no problems.....
having said that, if the oil change is required every 3000 (and I'm not doing it myself!), What's the advantage of using synthetic?

I'm not concerned about "engine failure" with the extended warranty I have.

Just a thought......

Re: Intervals

right on dude.......I changed mine @3K and 'bout popped a neck vein getting the oil filter off
anyway......I have been told by some good 'ole truck boys down here to run about 5-6K miles (2 oil changes) with the recommended oil (Motorcraft) to give the rings and such time to get seated / burned-in, Then, go to synthetic. Also, after 5k you can change your K&N oil filter and drop a quart of syn-oil in it and yer good to go for another 5K.

Any oil that meets the WSS-M2C153-H Ford Motor Company specification will be an excellent choice and will definitely not void the manufactures warranty.

Motorcraft® 5W-20 is a premium blend (synthetic and mineral oil base stocks) manufactured via a process called “hydrocracking”. The process rearranges the molecules, freeing them of impurities and making them more durable and resistant to breakdown.

can't speak for the US, but the Canadian owners manaul REQUIRES oil change every 10,000 km (6000 miles) and RECOMMENDS every 5000 km (3000 miles)

Fulfilling the REQUIRED changes meets warranty needs. RECOMMENDED is just that. Recommended to make your truck last longer.

I also think of all of the fleet trucks out there that only change every 20,000 (12000 miles), have the crap berat out of them every dday and still log 300,000km (180,000miles)
