The Price For a MAGNAFLOW

with duals and SS tips for $400.00 for my new 5.4.

That was the quote I got from a local exhaust shop that does a lot of hi-performance stuff..........

I respect everybody's opinion here and just wondering if I'm getting ripped-off or should I just do it?

Also, I'm concerned it may be too loud, I really don't want the volumn turned up in the cab, I like the smooth, quiet ride.

Big there are alot of different exhaust systems out there . If you go performance expect it to be loud. Now if you go with a sport type you may achieve the sound you like .Check out your local muffler shop mine was done installed 304 stainless muffler and aluminized pipe for $350. Look for a place that does Hot Rods they know more of the sound quality that we would like.

Question for you guys -- Is there any exhaust system out there that produces a nice sound outside the truck, yet no increase of sound inside the cab? I was about to get a Magnaflow from a local muffler shop. He said it was the quietest Magnaflow that is made. Just before I was going to get it, I started talking to my grandpa about it. So happens that he had just gotten that exact same muffler on his Cheby 2500HD (8.1L V8 gas). So I took it for a test drive. I liked the way it sounded from outside, but inside there was resonating at low RPM. That is what I DON'T want. Any suggestions? Am I just asking for too much
