Lock

What is the keylock located next to the rear License plate used for? Its not connected to anything and I have locks for my tailgate and hitch.

It blocks access to the spare tire winch.

If im thinking right here it's anti theft you will need to remove it to lower your spare tire.

Yup, thats it. Pull that lock out to insert the crank handle to lower the spare tire

That makes sense. Thanks for the info. I am removing the spare and mounting a full sized 35 " in the bed. I have to it doesn't clear the rear end or frame crossmember.
