Cat-Back Systems

Has anyone installed a Gibson cat back system yet? It seem like most of you like the Magnaflow system, why is that?

What about loudness. I dont want it to be to loud, I have other cars for that.

Havent got the Gibson so I cant help you with that. I have the Borla SIDO and love it. It is nice and throaty but not too loud. Its all T-304 stainless steel, mandrel bent, got good looking tips and has a million mile warranty. Borla does stand behind their product. It does cost a little more but to me it is worth it.

Gibson System

I recently installed a Gibson on my sons 2001 Supercab 150. It was fairly easy and it sound good. Not too loud. It picks up around 3,000. I recommend it.

I installed the Magnaflow SIDO last week, was an easy install, sounds great and no droning at cruise speeds. You can hear it when you step on it but it's not intrusive at all. I can't hear it over my radio on the interstate unless I want to

Gibson Cat-back

I have recently had two different Gibson cat-back systems on my 04 FX4. A mechanic at a local muffler shop "felt" that he could install the Dual Sport (single in-dual out, stock location) without removing the spare tire. Did not work out but I had the system on for about a week and it had a great sound and looked very nice. I did not want to remove the spare tire so I had the Dual Sport removed and installed the Gibson SISO cat-back. The SISO is not alot louder than stock but is a much nicer look than stock as well as a good sound. The sound is just enough that you can hear it and know you have a V-8 lurking under the hood. The SISO is 3" pipe with a 3.5" tip. I do have a few pics if anyone is interested. Bottom line-Gibson makes some quality systems. Also, the install is not that difficult but if have someone that will install for 50-60 bucks, pay the money and they will also dispose of the old system.

Cretu exhaust is not to be resticted or allowed to flow to fast for performance so listen to them and ask you will find what you want on your's. I have a oxbo cat back (name of place that sold it ) it's louder then i like, does it perform better ,don't really know never based lined on a Dyno to see what the difference could have been. So listen to what you like and buy that one you'll be happy.

Thanks for the input guys, I am aware of the exhaust gas flow do and dont's. The issue is loudness - its hard to tell with an MP3 off of a web site. I have had Gibson in the past and loved it, just wanted other 04 F-150 owners input before i fork out cash.

I will attach pics of the install when I do it....

I got news from Troyer that the magnaflow SIDO should fit (clear) my supercrew with the factory 4" chrome tubular step bar ... so I am planning on switching

one question .. what do they mean by: However, before ordering, check your intermediate pipe to make sure it doesn't have a lateral bend in it. This will cause a fitment issue.

I don't see any major bend but I want to make sure i know what I am looking for ...
