asinatra-where do you find the '04 4.6l auto trans designated (in writing) as 4R70E?. Mine has a dipstick so I guess it has required 30k fluid changes & is possibly the 4R70W? Some of these new trannys are supposed to have life-time fluid. From what I have been able to find out, these life-time fluid trannys are the sealed ones with no dipstick. And to add to the confusion ; the owners manual ONLY says that the 4R70W trannys need 30k fluid changes and the others only need to have the fluid checked (if they have a dipstick). If you know EXACTLY what is what on this, you know more than 98% of the others.

jpdadeo-many thanks....this site answers all my questions--The 4R70E is per new '04 w/lifetime fluid as stated in capacity section. The 4R70W is per '04 Heritage. Official Ford Specs rule. You don't have to change the AT fluid on the 4R70E if you don't want to.

You know dude, I've been seeing a pattern in your posts.

Are you a funny guy or just a smart *** that knows very little about the vehicle?

Do tell.
