xm or sirus for a 2004 SCREW

Looking for help.

Does any one have XM any other type of sat. radio in their 150.
How does it hook up. What are the cost?
Where can you mount it.

Any other info is appreciated.

Thx, Larry

I have the XM Commander. Couldn't be happier. $9.99/month. I paid about $130 a few months back...there are better deals out there now. Last I checked Sirius was $12.99/month. Go to both websites and check out their channel line up...it's all personal preference. I have had a little trouble with reception lately, but I think it's the area I live in...hills, trees, leaves, low spots, overpasses, etc.

Still, it's worth it. I hate commercials.

A lot of guys installed them themselves...I paid Circuit City $35 for the install...

one of the main reason i got xm is because the commander fits so well in the ashtray, check my gallery. installation was pretty easy and if you use it as much as i do 10 bucks is real nice.

A lot of people have chosen the ashtray install. I don't have the ashtray in the dash like this, but here is ristuccia's...

I bought a new Alpine CD player with XM in it already. The box just went in the dash behind the deck. I like XM radio but I lose signal a lot here in MT because of trees, mountain, etc. When on the HWY or open country I love it. I have heard that XM only has one satellite while Sirus has 2. I am not real sure though. In the future I bet signal will get much better. If I did it over I might go Sirus..... but I love Alpine so Im stuck with XM.

I personally have XM in my truck and absolutely love it. While it's not a 2004, I had purchased an XM ready head unit and thus, control everything from there (including XM, CD, AM/FM/Sub).

I'm sold on XM and rarely listen to anything else.

Any system out there that can tie directly into my Audiophile system other than RF Modulation?

I'm all Sirius here.

You can get an inexpensive Kenwood deck with a free Sirius receiver which will be an upgrade to the sound anyhoo. The antenna is very small.

I've had it for a couple years and one really nice thing about Sirius is you can log on to sirius.com, enter your password, and listen to the streams on your computer, just like I am now! XM may have that too, though.

This deck is Sirius ready and came with the free tuner. I installed it behind the rear seat. The sound is excellent, the reception immaculate and the upgrade in equipment made it all the better. If you decide to go with Sirius I believe you will not be sorry. If you decide to go with XM radio Im sure it will be leaps ahead of regular radio also. Did I mention no commercials?

I have a few followup questions to this as I just tonight started to seriously think about getting Sirius.

1. I thought these had perfect reception. But I'm reading of poor reception when you drive under a tree. Does it happen under any tree?

2. I DO NOT have a flow through console, so there are cup holders with my ash tray and it pulls way out. It cannot be installed there right? Would I have to go with the lighter space option?

3. I in no way would be able to install this myself. So do I trust a Best Buy store or similar to do this?

4. I assume the original radio will also work after installing satellite radio?

5. Of these 60+ stations, do you get to choose the genre of music? Or do you get 2 rock and 50 classical music?

6. Do the NFL football stations cost extra or do you just get them regardless?

7. What subscription do most of you have?

8. What is the average total initial cost for radio, install, etc?

Thanks
