104 mph, and that's plenty. What's nice is how easily this truck will just walk right up to the gov!

Going to the mountains this weekend. We'll see how well it walks up the passes.

My '04 Lariat SCrew 4x4 tops out at 101Mph according to the speedo. It seems like it's capable of a lot more if the gov would be disabled.

I've had Tuff's Ford up to about 120 and the gov kicked in. Bone Stock. What gives?

I use the car wash wand/brush type thing all the time. I get a good detail in once or twice a year. I don't mind the little scratches...

Seriously though, I use the drive through car wash at the gas station about every 3rd time I fill up in the winter time (no salt down here...they use gravel). Summer time is a little different. I'll hand wash it in the driveway. I give it a good detail in the Spring after it warms up, and then one last time in the Fall before it gets too cold.

Then again, my trucks an ol' beater now!

130+. Clocked by my brother, who's a state trooper, on a remote, very long and straight road in northwestern Wisconsin. My truck was still very slowly accelerating when my brother told me to back it down via our CB radios.

Obviously this requires that the "governor" (technically called "speed limiter") is removed. I used my SuperChips 1714 tuner to do that. VERY IMPORTANT: You should definitely not attempt this for extended periods of time if your tires are not rated for speeds that high!! Stock tires are "S" rated, which equates to 112 MPH maximum if I remember right.

that tire rating stuff is the super safest 100% blah blah blah. They can go faster.

I had some bfg 35x12.5x17's on my fx4 while on the dyno going about 155mph. Now those big ol tires started looking all crazy top fuel like.

On my regular cab I backed out at 120 on the needle. Still had plenty of boost.
Tires are stock Michelins, only A B rated, Not safe at sustained speeds above 112. A short burst is one thing, fifteen minutes is another.
With these S rated tires I think I’ll follow the recommendations.

On my old vette, I have run H rated (130 sustained) tires up to 150, for very short bursts. They didn’t handle well, and they wore quickly. Then I upgraded to ZR rated tires for steady high speed running. Totally different feel and handling.

Is it a governor? Or is it just that the 4.2 won't go any faster than that?

Tuff, did I miss something over thanksgiving, how did you do that?

My truck certainly sneaks up to the limiter easily, I hit it once while I wasn't paying too much attention to how fast I was going.

It's programmed into the computer from what I hear since some tuner's can easily remove it

Around 135 here, with tuner and stock tires.
