AC Ghost Problem

Anyone experienced anything similar? I was riding along and adjusting the AC temp level on the steering wheel of my 2004 Lariet and the AC shut completely off. I turned it back on but had to stop shortly. When I came back out and started home I noticed the AC was not getting cold but air was blowing. I checked all fuses when I arrived home and all were good. I restarted the truck and the instrument lights on the AC panel started blinking on and off. I turned the truck off, restarted it and magically everything worked like it's supposed to. No problem since. Should I be concerned?

Electrical Gremlin. Hopefully a one-time deal. If it happens, note when/how and the date/time. Keep a log & look for a pattern. Take it to the dealer and share your info. Dealer might have a little problem trying to find an intermittent gremlin. Good luck.

I do not have a Lariat, so I'm not sure about this. But do the Lariat's have Automatic Climate Control? You set the temp and it will automatically go to that? If so, once it reaches the desired temperature, the air temperature coming out of the vents will compensate to keep it a steady temperature inside the vehicle.

You are correct, but the behavior he described isn't normal. The system doesn't shut off on its own nor should the panel 'blink'.

I have a Lariat and have had lots of issues with my EATC system, at times my A/C will shut down (off) within a few minutes of driving away? also the A/C will not stay in the Max A/C mode, it will switch to normal A/C after a period of time. I ran the "Self-Test" on my system a number of times and found no condition codes? Being a Ford Dealer Service Mgr. I am watching for "TSB"s and "SSM"s for any data from the factory...

Angry Climate control issues

I've had the same issues. System shutting off a few minutes after starting the truck, temp set to 68 then rocketting to 75. What gives?

Using the search button on this site reveals that most A/C problems are resolved by having the PCM reflashed.

If you think that the dealer might be re-flashing your PCM to fix that problem, then DEFINITELY return your truck to stock before taking it in. If they reflash while you have one of the Superchips tunes loaded, your MicroTuner can become "locked" when you go to use it again and you would need to send it to them anyway. If they re-flash, you'll also want to save that revision as your new stock program (it will be just like using the microtuner for the 1st time on your truck after the re-flash). Hopefully, the microtuner won't have any issues with the re-flashed PCM program.

Good luck,
