Impressions of Flowmaster Super 40 SI/DO

Just installed the Flowmaster Super 40 SI/DO side exit cat back exhaust. Cost approx 399 from JEG's.

Installation took me about 4 hours using rhino ramps to lift the back end. I cut off the rear of my old exhaust using a el cheapo $45.00 Craftsman Sawzall with a metal cutting blade. The directions were fairly reasonable. The two parts of the kit I didn't like were the actual exhaust clamps and the way the instructions for attaching the driver side exahaust hanger. I got around this by using a speed nut (from checkers auto parts) similar to the way the factory attaches the right exhaust hanger. I'm no mechanical genious so I would say anyone with a good set of tools and ramps can do this.

In terms of the exhaust, this is not one for you guys who like peace and quiet. The exaust is audible inside and out. People will be able to tell the difference between 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full throttle just be listening to the tone. There is some drone between 1500 and 2000 but not too bad. It is no where near as loud as my old 1996 mustang GT exhaust with magnaflow magnapacks. It sound kind of like a cross between a truck and a old big block muscle car. Overall I'm pleased. It feels a little softer on the bottom end but stronger on the top end. Not by much either way though. I still don't know how much I trust the exhaust clamps but there were no leaks when I was finished. I'll be rechecking them in about two weeks.
