? for FX4 owners

I am considering getting an FX4 screw. The question I have is whether or not the painted bumpers will be an issue with chipping for road grit, etc. Anybody have any concerns with this?

Not one problem! I have an 02 FX4, and no chips. I even had an individual back into my front bumper earlier this summer and bust out their taillight on it along with some bumper damage to their cavalier, and not one scratch or chip.

I'd say definitely go for it!

I have had mine since December and have had no problems what so ever with it, great truck and the paint seems to be holding up well on the bumpers.

I have a couple of tiny little chips. Can only see them if I look for them. If you don't tailgate you shoudl be fine. I like them much better than chrome.

At almost 11000 miles I dont have a single mark on mine, and around here there is alot of sand and high winds (like getting sand blasted). I'm very happy with the way they are holding up so far.

Same here!

I have a black FX4 and was worried about the chips in the paint, but so far so good!

My truck see the highway every work day and still looks great on that front end. 5k on it now!

Personally I really think the painted bumpers look real nice on this truck!

If you are really worried about 3M makes a clear film that will stick on the bumper and prevent chips

I've been surprised how well the painted bumpers have held up.

I hate chrome so bumper chips are just something I've gotten used to, but so far, so good.

No chips here either and I live on a gravel road with almost 12,000 miles on the truck now.

painted bumper chips

Be sure to look at the front bumper regarding this.
After reading this one and the last wash, I looked at mine.

The lower front bumper looks like it was hit with a shotgun!

About 20 BB sized chips of paint missing and the holes are rusty!

AHHH!!!!! I thought this part was vinyl clad. It's not.

I will now have to fill the chips with touchup paint and buy the 3M film. I do a lot of highway driving and live in snowy PA.

97cobra,
That's just what I was thinking.. Prolly will have to invest in some of that 3m stuff. DSG screw fx4 is what I am planning on or the silver. I live north of chicago and spend winters doing rode trips snowmobiling so I see lots of salt and sand at highway speeds. So maybe it depends on where you live too.
