Pulsing vibration at 85 MPH...

My truck is getting a pulsing vibration at 85 MPH...is this the "vibration" that everyone is referring to? My truck only has 800 miles on it and tonight was the first time I have gone over 85 MPH in the truck. As soon as the speedometer hits 85 MPH, I start getting a vibration that pulses about twice per second. Please let me know if this is the dreaded vibration and what can be done about it.

Exactly at 85mph right?? thats when mine does it.Not 1mph before. Ive never asked about it to be honest with you. Theres a select few of us here that have it and nobody (that I know of) has ever complained to the dealer about it to try to get it fixed. And like it was said above...NO this is not the dreaded vib. that everyone else has. I dont normally drive over 80mph anyway so it doesnt bother me.

Wow, that is strange. Yes, it is EXACTLY 85 MPH that it happens. At 84 MPH, everything is smooth. At 85 and above, it is a very faint pulsing vibration that seems to pulse about 2 times per second. As soon as my speed drops below 85, it goes away. I asked my wife if she could feel it, and she could. I hope it doesn't get worse. I don't drive over about 78 MPH very often. I don't think I'll even mention it to the dealer, since there really isn't anywhere you can driver 85 legally in Tennessee anyway. I am glad that I am not crazy, though. Thanks for the reply.

I had similar issue but at 70 mph . Dealer rotated and balance tires and it went away for a few weeks .. then it came back but very mild ... I think the BF goodrigh tires I have mav be the reason ... I am planning on changing one day to goodyears ... but I don't want to do it now because I rather spend the money in the exhaust

YES!!! that is funny, because when i go 140kph, (85mph) i don't notice a pulsing, but i do hear a droneing, and a ruff feel to the truck, just below 140, gone, 140 to governor (160kph) droneing. I'd say its what you guys got. I don't want to bring it up because im not supposed to drive that fast anyway, pluse i am afraid they might change out the rack n pinion which doesn't have the vibration or sound at 60mph. I can live with it.

Mine vibrates at 55 MPH. Its a rotational/harmonic vibration. Your decription of pulsing is inline. Welcome to the club.

Thanks PALongbow. I guess I should just be glad that mine doesn't do it until 85 MPH.

Vibration

I just got my Truck have 1500. Passed a car got to up to around 85. Vibration started and was very bad a rotational vibration from rear of truck. Dealer installed frame damper. Have tried once no improvement. Don't know if worth trying anthing else as seldom have need to drive that fast. Although it has been known to happen.

I think what your feeling is the speed limiter kicking in...it cuts in and out the ignition...it's just like the rev limiter...cuts in and out the ignition.

Hey FreekyFX4..dont worry your not crazy,,HAHA!! BUt again, Im not gonna worry about it. Like someone said they dont want the rack changed and then another problem shows up. For the times I do 85mph, I'll deal with the vibration. Other than that my truck is awesome and flawless. Well other than mt newly cracked windshield(but thats getting fixed this week). If you decide to ask your dealer about it let me know what they say, or if they find anything. Oh yeah...Nice Truck

Hey texford, I didnt know there was a speed limiter on this truck, are you sure you dont mean the rev limiter?

No I have had 6 trucks to date this a harmonic vibration, not on somithing kicking in. Rev limit would be not in the picture as at highway speeds the RPM is not at the highest part of the curve, at that speed. You would be hitting a speed limitter first. The ballance wieght nay have helped some. I found out today that the auto repair union in our city is now going on strick no repairs will be done.

Yep there is a speed limiter and a rev limiter...when you get a 9100 programer Mike removes those...I'd get to 85 in my '03 out on 114 going to Lubbuck and it would do the same thing...now it up to 95 and no more shudder
