Lightbulb Run in fender paint, need ideas to cover

I have a run in the clearcoat on my new Lariat Screw. The dealer tried to sand/buff it out, but it goes down to the color coat. So I have decided to not have them paint/blend the entire fender (for many reasons).

But my dealer is very willing to work with me and any ideas I have to help disguise or cover up the run. My idea was to come up with some sort of graphic decal or custom paint graphics to help cover the area, but I really need some good ideas. I just don't know what to do?!?

I know there are some really talented people here with great ideas that could put together some designs. So I REALLY NEED EVERYONES HELP with some ideas. Help!

Here is a closeup of the run:

Here is a side view of the area (you could use this to photoshop your graphic ideas if you want):

And here is a full side shot, with the area that I am thinking might work for some graphic. But if you have other ideas, I would love to hear them:

he he he - I saw your reflection....good wax job.

Man, thats a huge "open ended" question.

Basically its up to you. I dont know your taste, and you dont wanna a ricer look.

I (ME, jamzwayne) I would have it painted the original color.

Graphic design? What about "text"? Lariet Screw.

Like the STX logo on mine, but yours would be below your tail light.

That's why I need some ideas. Something subtle. I'm not into the ricer look or bling bling

If this was a solid color I would. But unless you have seen the Med. Wedgewood Blue up close, it's more than just blue, as the flakes are many different colors. Plus as you move around the vehicle, it changes colors. There is no way anyone would ever be able to get it to blend so that you wouldn't see it as you move around. Even the dealer agrees. Plus, the clearcoat will age differently than the rest of the body. And in 6 years or so, will be noticable. I plan on keeping this truck for 8 or more years.

Like I'm gonna get my wife in a truck with the word 'Screw' on the side.

Seriously, I was thinking of just some text too, but couldn't think of anything good

Good point. Oh....my sides hurt.

What are your interests?

Fishing?
Hunting?
Racing?

You could always go the logo route.

Buy some VERY expensive Foose wheels and have the Foose logo painted on both sides.

Just an idea.

Why don't you want the dealer to repaint it? I just got mine back today. I took it in because it had 2 pea size bubbles in the right rear quarter panel (just below the FX4 sticker). They repainted the entire quarter panel and put on a new sticker. Did an excellent job....paint matched perfectly, quality application and sticker was straight. Also, my drivers side front window was squeaking when going up so they replaced the regulator. Came to pick it up and to my surprise it was vacuumed out, washed and the tires had a fresh coat of Armor All on them!

I would have to agree with drillsgtjra. Since the truck is new and so is the paint I would let them repaint the fender now better than later. They should be able to fix it with no problem or hire a painter that knows what hes doing.

I second this motion. I'm not a fan of many pinstripes or 'graphics' as I haven't seen any that didn't detract from the overall look of a truck in my opinion... Further, think farther down the road rather than in the present.

I'm not either, that's why I would like a little help with some ideas. I thought that a small graphic, in a dark color would be tasteful and subtle.

Further, think farther down the road rather than in the present.
Thinking further down the road is exactly what I am doing... painting the fender has the distinct possibility that a larger portion of the side of the truck will no longer match. It's not just me who thinks this, even the dealer's body shop says the same. I even went to a custom paint shop (friend of my neighbors) and he told me not to repaint it.

Of course, I don't have to cover it. But I think if I found something complementary, this might be the best solutiong. Again, thinking of the future, it can always be removed at a later time.

Maybe a clear ghost flame real slight but enhanced in the sun if done on clear back ground decal . Just a shade or two off original color. I managed Body Shops for a while and i would not break a factory paint either.
