Doesn't the Audiophile play MP3s?

I was under the impression that the Audiophile 6 cd changer would play mp3 cds. It kicks it out when I put it in though.

Now if I put it in the DVD player it will play them but only in order that they were burned and I can't do shuffle, etc. Does display song titles etc on the DVD screen.

Am I wrong or burning the CDs wrong?

Thx
Jim

You can review many threads.

The Audiophile will play MP3's copied to cd format, however, they will NOT play in MP3 format.

In other words you can play a disc that has 12 or so songs on it but you cannot play a disc that has well over 100 songs on it.

rumor is that the '05 changer may play MP3's.
If so I wonder if they will call it the "MACH" system like in the Rangers?

You are correct. It will play MP3s, but it's still called the 'audiophile'.

Ahhh crap...should have waited for the 05...I wonder if it will be a direct fit in the 04...

I guess it is ok with the DVD playing it but I like the random option, especially with 100s of songs...

It's the same exact HU, just different software. Take a close look at your HU and you'll see the 'MP3' in the LCD panel...

I dunno... but I'm gonna find out somehow!! I'd love the MP3 capability. It's either that or I'm renting/borrowing a truck for the day and making the swap.

If anyone knows this... can you get the head unit (the six-disc changer, w/ MP3 for 2005) without the audiophile sub under the rear seat?
